PORRITT, Jerry “Papa” – Of Burton, age 71, died Friday, February 5, 2010 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral service will be held 11am Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor D. Joey Graves officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation 1-8pm Monday at the funeral home. Contributions may be directed to First Presbyterian Church or Avalon Hospice. 

Jerry was born in Flint on October 11, 1938, and lived in the Flint area for over 50 years. Jerry served in the United States Navy. Jerry, known as “Papa”, was loved by his children and his grandchildren were the center of his universe. 

Surviving are children, Allyson Porritt of Burton, Douglas Porritt of Grand Rapids, Tonnie Carter of Grand Rapids, Ann and Dennis Deering of Grand Blanc and Amy Owen of Burton; Grandchildren, Ryan, Darci, Erin, Amanda, Austin, Emily, Cheyenne; Special grandkids, Jacob, Lauren, Jo-Lee and Krystal; Sisters, Donna (Roger) MacDonald and Rosemary Inman; Many close friends, cousins and special people. 

He was preceded in death by wife, Mary, mother, Marjorie Porritt, father, Lewis Porritt, sisters, Laura Bryant and Carol Momany and brother, Robert Porritt.
