FOLLEN, Virginia J. – Of Flint, age 91, died Sunday, February 14, 2010 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 20, 2010 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 4413 Morrish Road, Swartz Creek, Father Steven M. Mattson officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Swartz Creek Community Food Basket. Visitation 5-8 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m.-2 and 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Mrs. Follen will be at the church from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the Mass. Virginia was born in Flint, Michigan on July 25, 1918, the daughter of Graham and Lulu (Besley) Barlow and was a resident of the Flint area since 1947, having grown up in Vernon, Michigan. She married John Follen on September 27, 1947. She was a member of VFW Post #4087 Auxiliary and Pierce Senior Citizens Center. Surviving are daughter, Linda and husband Kenneth Klungle of Swartz Creek; two grandchildren, Matthew Klungle and fiancee’ Melissa Shotwell of Washington and Roni Klungle of Holt, Michigan; two great-granddaughters, Kendall and Kaelyn Craddock of Holt; in-laws, Richard and Patricia Follen, Mary and Frances Follen;
many nieces and nephews.
