IHRKE, Ernest William – age 85 of Mayville died Sunday February 14, 2010 at Heritage Hill Assisted Living. A Service of Remembrance will be ll A.M. Friday, February 19, 2010 at the Mayville United Methodist Church with Pastor Ron and Warren Phelps officiating. Family will receive visitors 10 A.M. Friday, February 19, at the church until time of the service. Ernest was born February 7, 1925 to Orva and Relva (Wells) Ihrke in Mayville. He married Eleanor Louise Phelps on April 28, 1945 in Fayetteville, N. C. He attended Mayville High School leaving after age 18 to serve his country but later received his diploma at a graduation ceremony at the school. He was a milkman in the Mayville area from which he retired from London Dairy after many years. He attended the Mayville United Methodist Church of Mayville, was a member of Mayville American Legion Post #181, and delivered Meals On Wheels. He loved his grandchildren, caring for Senior Citizens needs and enjoyed traveling with his camper or motor home, snowmobiling and fishing. He is survived by his wife Eleanor of Mayville, son: Larry (Marliese) Ihrke of Huntersville, N.C, daughters: Patricia (Gary) Dunham of Caro, Paula (Dale) Snyder of Millington, brother: DeForest (Edie) Ihrke of Caro, grandchildren: Christine, Christopher, Jennifer, Bradlee, Matthew, Lauren, Michael, great grandchildren: Courtney, Abagail, Abbey and Owen. He was preceded in death by son: Gary, brother: Robert sister: Leona Huntley, granddaughter: Julie Dunham, great grandchildren: Allison and Andrew LaPratt.
