NORTON, Edwin Emmett – of Clio, age 84 passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Saturday, February 20, 2010 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Burial in Thetford Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-9 PM, Friday from 12-9 PM and on Saturday from 11 AM until time of service.

 Ed was born August 12, 1925 in Flint, Michigan to the late Edwin and Ruby (Pattengill) Norton and had resided in Clio most of his life. He served in the US Army during WW II. Ed married Cleda Edwards on September 17, 1949. He retired from Buick in 1974 with over 30 year’s seniority. He then owned Norton’s’ Aluminum for many years. He was a member of the Gordon R. Bennett VFW Post #1452 and the UAW Local #599. He was a loving and devoted husband and father. He enjoyed being a cabinet maker.

 Surviving are: wife, Cleda; 4 children, Debra Young, Randy Norton, Kathy Childers, all of Clio; Ellen (Jim) Cokley of Davison; 6 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Leland Norton of Davison, Francis Norton of Mt. Morris; sister-in-law, Donna Norton of New Lothrop; many nieces and nephews. Ed was also preceded in death by: son, Larry Norton; brother, Everett Norton; sister, Evelyn Norton; and a son-in-law, Thomas Young.
