
NICKEL, Gary R. – Of Flushing, age 63, died Friday, February 19, 2010 while snowmobiling in the U.P. enjoying one of the things he loved to do. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Rossell Funeral Home. Rev. Teresa Peterson will officiate. Burial will follow at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. Tuesday. Gary was born May 17, 1946 in Flint, MI, the son of Roy V. and Ruth (Hunt) Nickel. He married J. Annette Ritchings in Flushing on August 23, 1969. Gary was a lifelong Flushing resident and builder. He helped to inspire the Movies in the Park. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in Vietnam. Gary was a former member of the Flushing Jaycees and a member of the Flushing Frozen Forty. He was a sailor and raced sailboats. Gary is survived by: wife, Annette; two children, Christopher Nickel and special friend, Marcy Bork, Sara and husband Chris Anderson; granddaughter, Emma Kate Anderson; brother, Douglas and wife Colleen Nickel; sister, Debra and husband Gary Sanborn; several adored nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
