DAKIN, Vernon M. “Marty” – of Montrose, age 69, died Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at his residence. Friends may call at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Saturday from 12 Noon to 5 PM. Cremation to follow. Contributions may be made to the McLaren Home Health and Hospice.

Marty was born November 12, 1940 in Flint to Vernon and Gertrude (Charron) Dakin and Josephine Turner. He was raised in New Lothrop and graduated from New Lothrop School. He has lived in Clio, Mt. Morris and Montrose since then. He married Helen Bolin on October 16, 1987 in Mt. Morris. Marty retired form Pontiac Truck and Bus on November 11, 1991. He loved the outdoors, animals and going for country drives.

Surviving are: wife, Helen; 5 children; Dana Dakin (special friend Sue Kaan) of Montrose, Lisa (Ron) Sujak of Montrose, Annie (Bill) Crow of Lapeer, Butch Dakin of Mt. Morris (their mother, Bev (Rick) Shanks), and daughter Nan (Tim) Kohler of Clare; 4 grandchildren, Chris Crow, Chloe Crow both of Lapeer, Matthew Gleason of Gladwin, Rene Scott of Petersburg; great-grandchildren; Cody, Cheyanne and Hunter; siblings, Dolores (Chuck) Renner of New Lothrop, Courtney (Larry) McBride of CA, Pat Stebbins of GA; sister-in-law, Pat Turner of AZ; numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a brother Jerry Turner. The family extends a special thank you to Sally and Mikala from McLaren Hospice for their loving care.
