ITTNER, Leon (Jim) Jr. of St. Charles passed away February 18, 2011 at the age of 84. He was born in Saginaw, Michigan March 1, 1926 to the late Leon Sr. and Hannah Ittner. Jim married the former Colleen Robishaw July 28, 1962 and she survives him.
He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Saginaw. After graduating from Saginaw High School he enlisted in the Army Air Corp. Upon discharge from the service he became a co-partner with his father in the hardware business until 1975, the last ten years as owner-manager. Jim was also a dedicated volunteer firefighter with the Bridgeport Fire Dept. for 41 years, the last eleven as the first full time chief.
During the 1950’s he was a well known stockcar driver. He loved hunting in the U.P.and dirt biking with his son and grandson in the Rose City area. Many summer vacations were spent with the entire family in northern Michigan.
Along with his wife, he leaves behind to mourn his passing his much loved family. His three children, Michael (June) Robishaw of St. Charles, Susan Feinberg of North Carolina and Nancy Sweet of St. Charles; six grandchildren, Michael J. Robishaw, Melissa (Bryan) Yuvan, Sara (Chris) Kelly, Aaron (Kim) Kilts, Erik (Holly) Sweet and Rebecca Sweet; eight great-grandchildren who he loved and enjoyed so much, Grace Noel and Brady Robishaw, Liza and Winn Kelly, Kaitlin and Claire Kilts and Jude and Gray Sweet, who much loved him in return. He is also survived by three brothers, Richard Ittner of Georgia, Robert (Marva) Ittner of Marquette and Ronald (Shirley) Ittner of Frankenmuth. Along with his parents Jim is predeceased by one never forgotten infant grandson, Matthew Philip Robishaw; 2 brothers, Wilbur Don Ittner and Delbert (Jack) Ittner; and two sister-in-laws, Jeannine Ittner and DeLores Ittner.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, 1123 W. Walnut, St. Charles. Pastor Jason Baldwin will officiate. Burial will be at Brant Twp. Cemetery. Friends may call at C.M. Humpula Funeral Home, 209 Entrepreneur Dr., St. Charles, on Monday from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a sharing time held at 7:00 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the service time. Memorial may be made to the St. Charles Fire Department or Bridgeport Fire Department.
