LONG, Mrs. Helen C. (Leach) of Millington passed away early Thursday March 3, 2011 at her residence in Millington, Helen was 86. Helen C. Leach the daughter of the late Clare & Lila (Kowitz) Leach was born on May 5, 1924 in Watertown Township. As a young lady during WW II she worked in Frankenmuth for Universal Engineering of Frankenmuth helping manufacture airplane parts. On October 25th of 1948 Helen married her husband of 67 years Ralph Long. Helen loved flower gardening and raising roses. Most of all Helen loved spending time with family, Helen leaves to cherish her memories her husband Ralph, children; three sons and daughters in-law; Larry & Yvonne Long, David & Carol Long, and Gary & Sarah Long, three daughters and sons in-law; Ruthann & Howard Kitchen, Penny & Larry Shumway, and Carrie & David Petzold, 14 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two brothers; Ronald & Raymond Leach, four sisters, Marleah Hoard, Joyce Schmitzer, Bernice Carr, and Irma Jean Mason, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Helen is preceded in death by two brothers, William & George Leach, Grandson Nathan Long, sister in-law Barb Leach, and brother in-law Clyde Hoard.
Honoring Helen’s wishes cremation has taken place. The Long family will have a time of sharing and remembrance on Saturday March 5, 2011 at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington from 2:00 until 4:00pm. A life celebration service will begin at 4:00 pm at the Hanlin Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Hoard giving the eulogy and message.
