JOYCE, Beulah L. – of Clio, age 103, died Thursday, February 17, 2011. Funeral Mass will be 10 AM Monday, February 21, 2011 at Saints Charles and Helena Catholic Church in Clio. Rev. Fr. Gerald J. Ploof officiating. Burial at Calvary Cemetery in Mt. Morris. Friends may call at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 & 6-9 PM. There will be a memorial by the American Legion Auxiliary at 6:30 PM Sunday followed by a Vigil and Rosary at 7 PM. She will lie in state at the church on Monday from 9 AM until time of Mass. Contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans.

Beulah was born January 26, 1908 in Vassar to the late Herbert and Abigail (Rowley) Ackerman. She married Vincent Joyce on October 20, 1928 in Toledo, OH. He preceded her in death on March 23, 1983. After raising her family, she studied and received her master’s degree from Eastern Michigan University. Mrs. Joyce then retired as a school teacher from Clio Area Schools in 1972 with 26 years seniority. She was a member of Saints Charles and Helena Catholic Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Clio Area Seniors, Thetford Red Hat Society, Half Century Club, Bethany Methodist Seniors and Charlie’s Angels.
Surviving are: children, Jean Schroeder of Port Huron, Patricia “Gail” Smith of Davison, Clarice Dougherty of Charlotte, Carol (Hank) Bielert of Clio, Richard Joyce of Interlochen; daughter-in-law, Dottie Joyce of MS; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by: her son, Vincent, Jr., 3 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. The family extends a sincere thank you for the special care received by the staff at Maple Place.
