ROGERS, Shawn M. (Trout) – Of Grand Blanc, age 42, lost a brief three day battle with Leukemia on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, February 20, 2011 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Ralph Helm officiating. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the “Rogers Children College Fund”, c/o Flagstar Bank, G-6200 South Saginaw Rd, Grand Blanc, MI 48439. Visitation 6-9 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Shawn was born in Flint, Michigan on September 26, 1968, and was a 1986 graduate of Linden High School. Shawn married Les Rogers on June 11, 1994 in Linden. Shawn graduated from Western Michigan University with her Bachelor’s in Education and was in the process of obtaining her Master’s Degree at the University of Michigan.

She enjoyed scrapbooking, snowmobiling, watching her children playing sports, and spending her summers in Mackinaw City. Shawn was employed as a First Grade Teacher at Reid Elementary School in Grand Blanc. Shawn touched the lives of many young students and people in her community. She was a kind soul with a tender heart and a tenacious attitude for life.

Shawn leaves behind her best friend and loving husband, Les; sons, Matthew and Mitchell and Labrador Tilly; parents, David Michael and wife Jane Trout of Laura, Ohio, Holly and husband Mario Rodriguez of Mackinaw City; sister, Shannon and husband Mike Adams of Linden; brother, Jim Trout and sister, Sally Trout; grandparents, Ruth Rogers of Flint, Imogene McBride of Pleasant Hill, Ohio, James and wife Edith Trout of Flint, MI; in-laws, Jerry Rogers of Flushing and Linda Rogers of Holly; sister-in-law, Lori Rogers of Flint; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
