NANCE, Granville Price – Of Flushing, age 82, passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at his residence, surrounded by the family he loved.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2011 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Jim Day officiating. Burial in Flushing Cemetery under the auspices of VFW Post #822 Honor Guard.
Visitation Tuesday 4-8 p.m. and Wednesday 1-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Nance was born in Grubbs, Arkansas on April 18, 1928, the son of Price and Ethel (Kagen) Nance. He moved to Michigan right out of high school, working various jobs. He served in the U.S. Army from January 1952-1954 as a paratrooper. On August 27, 1975 he married Rose Anna Bolen. He visited Okeechobee, Florida every year for the past 25 years. He would love to fish and bring back the daily catch for a big fish fry with all their friends. He loved to watch the Detroit Tigers in the summer and the Detroit Pistons in the winter.
Mr. Nance retired from the Flint Board of Education as an Electrical Supervisor in May 1985, after 35 years of service.
Mr. Nance was a proud part owner of SugarHigh Bakery in Frankenmuth, Michigan and could often be found making the chocolate covered bacon or eating the orange gelato.
Surviving are wife, Rose Anna Nance; children, Cathy Cook, Grant Craig Nance, Rick and wife Debbie Bolen, Mike Bolen, Sheri and husband Mel Letts, Dawn and husband Mark Silva; grandchildren, Amanda and husband Kevin Smith, Nicole and husband Nick Jones, Shanquale Douglas, Heather and husband Adam Rousseau, Jennifer Silva, Eric Silva, Marc Silva, Alana Gilliland, Stephanie Bolen, Shaun and wife Racheal Bolen and Lindsi Letts; six great-grandchildren.
