SATHER, Alice L. – of Clio, age 83, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at her residence. Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 520 Butler, Clio. Rev. Wayne H. Wentzel officiating. Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Thursday from 6-9 PM and Friday from 12-4 and 6-9 PM. She will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM.
Alice was born October 18, 1927 in Flint to the late Amer and Kathleen (Black) Hartley. She resided in Clio since 1952. She married Myron Sather June 11, 1952 in Flint. He preceded her in death in 2000. Mrs. Sather retired from Clio School in 1995 with 20 years seniority. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. Alice enjoyed watching birds, gardening, being outdoors, spending time with her family and the girls friday night out.
Surviving are: children, Rodney (Laurie) Sather of Clio, Dennis Sather of Davison, Marty (Diane) Sather of Clio, Raymond (Joan) Sather of Clarkston, William (Nancy) Sather of Clio, Kathleen (Larry) Harris of Grand Blanc; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Walter (Kaye) Hartley of AL; sister, Joyce Schwerin of Pinconning; many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by: a son, Alan Sather; a grandson, Scott Sather; and a great grandson, Andrew.
