
BITTNER, Doris “Irene” Bittner, 82, of Reese, died early Saturday Morning, April 3, 2010 at the Cartwright Center in Saginaw. The former Doris “Irene” Pscholka was born July 4, 1927 in Flint, daughter of the late William and Dorothy (Peters) Pscholka. She lived in Saginaw and attended Arthur Hill High School. She met and married Carl F. Bittner December 7, 1946 in Saginaw at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He predeceased her May 19, 2004. The couple resided on their family farm in Reese for the remainder of their lives. Irene was a homemaker most of her life. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Reese and volunteered her time at the Bethesda Store in Saginaw. She was a member of TOPS in Reese and was a Cub Scout Den Mother for several years. She was known throughout the Reese community for several of her famous dishes; potato salad, cherry pies, bean soup, deviled eggs, and many more. The people of Reese looked forward to seeing what dish Irene brought to the tailgate parties before a Reese High School Friday night football game. She and Carl enjoyed watching many little league and Reese High School Athletic events. They also enjoyed many years wintering in Mission, Texas. She was always there to help the guys on the family farm with meals, rides or whatever she could do to help out. Surviving are her loving children and their spouses, Bernie and Debbie (Keyes) Bittner of Reese; Jean and Tom Beyer of Saginaw; and Mark Bittner of Reese; three grandchildren; Jeff Beyer and his wife Beth of E. Syracuse, N.Y.; Jennifer Beyer of Ann Arbor; and Jason Bittner of Reese; one great grandchild, Frederick Beyer and her brother, Alton Pscholka of Indianapolis IN. In addition to her parents and husband, Irene was predeceased by her grandson Steven Bittner, January 23, 1986, her sister, Phyllis Koinis and her brother, William Pscholka.
~FUNERAL~
Funeral services will take place at 11 a. m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010 from the Trinity Lutheran Church in Reese. Rev. Robert Bennett and Vicar Adam Lehman will both officiate with burial to follow in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
~VISITATION~
Irene’s family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 9940 Saginaw Street in Reese on Monday from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
