SHARPE, Evangeline C. “Babe” – formerly of Clio, age 81, died Monday May 3, 2010 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral services will be 1 PM Thursday May 6, 2010 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Burial at West Vienna Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3-8 PM and on Thursday from 12 noon until time of services at 1 PM. Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Mary’s School in Sault Ste. Marie or the charity of one’s choice.
Babe was born January 7, 1929 in Hessel, MI to the late John and Lillian (Welch) Romano and resided in Clio since 1965. She married James F. Sharpe on March 21, 1953. He preceded her in death on February 24, 2004. She was an LPN for McLaren Regional Medical Center for 20 years retiring in 1985. Babe was a former member of Saints Charles and Helena Catholic Church and the Clio Senior Citizens. She enjoyed her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, crocheting and her computer.
Surviving are: 8 children, Patricia Rolland of GA, Clayton “Jim” (Mary) McKelvie of Mooreville, Kathy Sommersberger of WI, Patrick (Dena) Peck of OK, Hugh Peck of WI, Debbie (Royce) Autry of Mt. Morris, Jodie McCarron of Flint and Krista Sharpe of Flint; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Joseph (Faye) Romano of OK; 5 sisters, Amelia LaTour of Sault Ste. Marie, Frances (Art) Cook of Barbeau, Delores (Joe) Normandin of MA, Wanda Monroe of IN, Angeline (Jefferson) Schuler of Flint; many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by: her son Steven; daughter Mary; sons-in-law Scott Rolland and Fred McCarron; 3 sisters, Cecelia, Theresa and Wilma.
