Rose was the second of six children born to Anna and Joseph Bachan. Her parents met in New York after emigrating from Bohemia; married and settled in Chicago. After a few years, the family moved to Foster, Michigan, and as a little girl, Rose grew up helping the family toil as migrant farm workers, finally owning a home of their own. In 1932, the family moved back to Chicago. Rose met her future husband, Henry, while visiting her older sister Anna and her husband, Phillip, in Flint. It was a double date that led to marriage in 1941; a marriage that lasted for 63 years until Henrys’ passing in 2004. Rose and Henry were long time members of Calvary Presbyterian Church where they spent many hours as volunteers making pasties and helping with the church bulletins. They were among the founding members of the Eastside Senior Citizens Center, where they enjoyed the company of many good friends over the years, along with frequent bus tours across the USA. Both served as members of the Board of Directors for the East Side Seniors’ organization. In later years, Rose enjoyed tending her flowers, feeding her birds, playing Bingo at the Center, baking her muffins, evening card games and spending time with family and friends.
Rose is survived by her children, David (Deloryes) Langdon and Kenneth (Ruth) Langdon; grandchildren, Rob (Julia) Langdon, Bill Langdon and Jason (Amy) Langdon; great-grandchildren, Danielle, Bailey, Olivia, Jacob and Natali; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Brian Langdon; siblings, Anna Raymond, Mary Bachan, Lillian Daniel and Joseph Bachan Jr. The family wishes to give their deepest appreciation to all who cared for Rose in her later years including Drs. Jota and Aquino, Genesys Hospice, Carolyn Scott and especially Caroline Finley, who provided evening home care for Rose (who enjoyed her card games) for the last six years since Henrys’ passing.
