PATTERSON, Prathel “Paul” “Pops” – Of Flint, age 83, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2010 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 18, 2010 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Robert Somers officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park with a military graveside service under the auspices of VFW Post #822 Honor Guard. Visitation 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Paul was born in Rector, Arkansas on April 4, 1926. Paul served in the U.S. Navy Seabees from 1944-1946. He was a member of the Disabled Veterans. Paul loved fishing and country music. Paul retired from Buick Motor Division in 1973 and was a member of UAW Local #599. Surviving are two daughters, Vicky (Stan) Stanley and Pam (Jim) Carnes, not only a daughter, but his longtime caregiver; two grandchildren, Christopher (April) Stanley and Angela (Ryan) Daup; five great-grandchildren, Jordan, Madyson, Makayla, Makenna and Mason; loving companion, Thelma McKinsey; two sisters, Eutha (Brad) Bradshaw and Patsy (Clinton) Samuelson; several  nieces and nephews; longtime friend, Wilfred Fritts and his adored dogs, Brown Nose and Elvis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda; son, Dennis; one sister and four brothers.
