GOGGINS, Sally Josephine (Lawrence) – Died December 2, 2010, just one week after her husband of 53 years, John Goggins, who passed away on Thanksgiving. Sally passed peacefully at home surrounded by the prayers of her family. Born in Saginaw, MI on July 8, 1936, she was the eldest daughter of Mary Jane (Oberlin) and Frank Lawrence. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 4, 2010 at St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, 609 E. 5th Ave., Flint with Msgr. Groshek celebrant. Interment will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, (Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek) and a rosary will be prayed beginning at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral. Sally was a woman of great faith, which was evident in all aspects of her life. Although she viewed her primary role as that of wife and mother of six children, she also had varied interest in many school and community activities. She led many in Bible studies throughout the years and she was always in prayer for her friends. She was an avid golfer and an annual walker in the Bobby Crim road races. She was a long- time member of Flushing Valley Golf and Country Club, Powers Catholic High School Mother Club and St Robert Church. Contributions may be made to The John and Sally Goggins Family Foundation, a 501(c) 3 private foundation established by to support catholic organizations and community programs. Surviving are: children Teresa (Michael) Witt, Cindy Joy Goggins, Marijane (Jim) Maceri, Lanie (Rick) Valley, Joseph (Jo Jo) Goggins, Andy (Sarah) Goggins; grandchildren, Preston, Bradford and Meredith Witt, Liz, Teresa and Michelle Valley, Lauren, Karleigh and Morgan Goggins, Drew and Lily Goggins; siblings, John (Lois) Lawrence, Judy (Pat) Mulcahy, Patricia (Charles) Hynes, William Lawrence; in-laws, Michael Goggins, Thomas (Carol) Goggins, Mary (Bill) Potbury, Edward (Kaygie) Goggins, Rosemary Wisniewski (deceased), Teresa “Pat” Kupper (deceased); 30 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her husband, John “Jack” Goggins and her parents. The Goggins family is truly grateful for all the love, support and prayers from Sally’s caregivers and friends. McLAIN, Florence A. – Of Maple Valley, MI formerly of Clio age 86, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at West Branch Regional Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 5, 2010 from 1-3 p.m. at the Swartz Funeral Home 1225 West Hill Road. Memorial contributions may be directed toward the family. Florence was born on June 21, 1924 in Flint, MI the daughter of the late Irvine and Lucille (Sears) Curtis. She married Maurice V. “Mac” McLain on March 28, 1942, and he preceded her in death after 58 years of marriage. Florence loved spending time with her family. She was a wonderful baker, loved gardening and watching the hummingbirds on her porch. She was known for her warm loving heart and gentle touch. She will be missed tremendously. She is survived by three daughters, Marie (Paul) Sirella of Crescent City, CA, Linda (John) Eddy Jr. of Maple Valley, Denean (Rick) Lamb of Clio; sons, Morry (Bobbi) McLain of Houghton Lake, Jerry (Barb) McLain of Tampa, FL, Rod McLain of Maple Valley; 11 grandchildren, Brent (Renee) Wright, Diahn Conticello, David (Brande) Eddy, Darlene (Dan Lauzon) Sensor, Steven Eddy, Chad Lamb, Ryan (Carly) Lamb, Codie (Gary) Gilliam, Brad (Charlotte) McLain, Michelle (Chris) Anderson, Scott (Michelle) McLain; great-grandchildren, Mitchel, Anthony, Marie, Christopher, Logan, Carter, Jordan, Sophie, Ella, Adysen, Steve, Jessica, Samantha, Sherry, Cecelia, Kaitlin, Ansley; six sisters, Marion Frederick, Doris (Leo) Atchison, Nancy Powell, Charlotte Daniels, Linda (Fred) Sterns, Sharon (Charles) Tusciuk. Florence was also preceded in death by four sisters, and five brothers.
