Sunday, September 26th, 2010SNOW, Spc. DeAngelo Barnell “D. Snow” of Afghanistan, formerly of Saginaw, Michigan. Our beloved son, brother, grandson and fiance’ departed this life suddenly on Thursday, September 16, 2010 while fighting for our country. At the young age of 22 years. He was born August 30, 1988 in Saginaw, Michigan son of Deloris Snow and the late Barnell (Bark) Amos. DeAngelo was a exceptional Tattoo and Airbrush artist. His memory will be cherished by his mother, Deloris Snow; step father, (Clarence Burton, Jr) ; his fiance’ Shaniece Scarborough; brothers, Damen, Anthony, Barnell, Jr., Dionquay, Ke’Varlyon, Semaj and Darius; sisters, Miracle, Tykesha, La’Nedra, Sha’Vonna, Charnell, Da’Triana and Ka’Maree; grandparents, E. Chris (Wayne) Jernigan and Johnnie Mae Amos; his aunts Charlene “T.C.” (Dewain) Snow-McCall and Lynette Amos and a very special aunt, Tiffiany (T-Bibb) Snow-McCall; uncles, Christopher Snow, Kasey Jeter and Kenneth Amos; his extended relatives, the Snow, Amos, Roby, Donald, Ballard, Bush and Riley families; also a host of cousins, other relatives and friends, including special friends, Sharee Amos, Anthony Skittlez Hardmen, D.Burt, Jason Ford and the Hood Star Boys. DeAngelo was predeceased by his father, Barnell (Bark) Amos; his grandfathers, Larrd Willingham and John Henry Jackson; and his step-grandfather, Gilliam Jeter. Funeral Service will take place 11:00 am Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at the Wolverine State Baptist Headquarters, 615 S. Jefferson Avenue. Rev. Dr. Marvin T. Smith will officiate. A full Military Honors will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery. A Visitation will be held on Monday from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Evans-Smith Funeral Home, 508 S. Washington Avenue.

Sunday, September 26th, 2010POWELL, William Reed – of Flint, age 88, passed away September 23, 2010 at Brian’s House Hospice. A Funeral Service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Friendship Free Will Baptist Church, 7110 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Curtis Lilly and Pastor Cody Mansfield co-officiating. Burial, with military honors will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Friday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friendship Free Will Baptist Church.
William was born on a farm near Campbell, Missouri on July 21, 1922, son of the late George and Luella (Crawley ) Powell. He served 15 months in the CC Camp at Hayti, Missouri and Ellington, Missouri from 1940-1941. William proudly served his country in World War II as a veteran of the US Air Force and the US Army as a Staff Sergeant with the 3rd Armored Division. He married Ida Naomi Reeves on January 23, 1947 in Piggott, AR and she preceded him in death on April 6, 2004. William Powell worked 30.6 years at Buick Motor Division. He retired on March 1, 1980 from Plant 3 and was a member of Local 599. William was a resident of Flint and Columbiaville, MI since 1950 and a charter member of Friendship Free Will Baptist Church for over 57+ years.
William is survived by his children, Nancy (Bob) Hohn of Flint, Pam (Al) Baker of Burton, William (Cindy) Powell of Burleson, TX; grandchildren, Jonathan (Christina), Scott, Chad, Megan (Jimmy) Williams, Heather and Kirsten; great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Williams; brothers, Glen (Nancy) Powell and Jack (Wanda) Powell. He was preceded in death by four brothers; two sisters and grandson, Adam Hohn.
