Wednesday, April 28th, 2010PRINCE, Deward “Linke” – Of Flint, age 76, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich. Funeral service will be held 12 noon Friday, April 30, 2010 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Eddie Phillips officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Genesys Hospice Care Center. Visitation 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Deward was born in Monette, Arkansas on June 14, 1933, the son of William and Bertha Prince, and was a resident of the Flint area since 1956. He served in the U.S. Army for two years. He attended Living Promise Church and was a member of UAW Local 659. Mr. Prince was employed by General Motors SPO for 38 years, retiring in 1994. Surviving are wife, Edythe “Edie”; five children, Martin and wife Marcia Backus of Florida, Mark Prince of Flint, Kristy and husband Richard Alexander of Flint, Robert and wife Carol Prince of Davison, Karla Allen of Flint; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Gladys Griffin; many nieces and nephews.
