Tuesday, April 6th, 2010STEVENS, Jack – Age 78, of Swartz Creek, passed away at the Durand Senior Care and Rehab Center. A Memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday April 10, 2010 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. The family will receive friends 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to, Alzheimer’s Association or American Red Cross. Jack was born in Flint, January 27, 1932. He served his country in the Army during the Korean conflict. He retired from GM SPO in 1983 with 30 years of service. He enjoyed bowling, yard work and spending time with his family . Survivors are; his wife of 55 years Barbara of Swartz Creek, son, Roger (Suzanne) Stevens of Grand Blanc, granddaughter, Allison, sister, Gloria (John) Melton SC, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Norma, brother Jerry, and son Roy. The family would like to thank the staff at Durand Senior Care and Rehab Center for their wonderful loving care. Tuesday, April 6th, 2010BECKER, Rolland N. “Ron” – Of Grand Blanc, age 92, died Sunday, April 4, 2010 at Genesys Convalescent Center. Funeral service will be held 11a.m. Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 5005 McCandlish Road, Grand Blanc, Pastor Dennis J. Himm officiating. Mr. Becker will be at the church 10a.m. Thursday until the time of the service. Burial in Flint Memorial Park with a military graveside service. Those desiring may make contributions to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church Mission.

Ron was born in South Branch, MI on May 9, 1917, the son of Elmer and Inez Becker, and was a resident of the Flint area and Grand Blanc most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army Combat Engineers in the European Theatre during World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 413. Ron was also a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Mr. Becker was employed by the Flint School System for 11 years and AC Spark Plug Division for 31 years, retiring in 1982.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine, in 1991 and together they raised 7 children; Michael (Kylene) Becker, Therese (Jay) Lewis, Mark (Wendy)Becker, Carol (David) Peterie, Judy (Ronald) Root, Deborah Moomey and Howard Plourde; 21 Grandchildren; Numerous great-grandchildren; Siblings, Jean Mann; Morris Abbott, Ray Abbott, Donald Abbott; Many nieces and nephews.

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010ROITER, Wesley John – age 44, of Gaines, died Saturday, April 3, 2010. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday, April 8, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 9450 Duffield Rd., Gaines with Fr. Robert McKeon celebrant. Visitation will be held 6-9 PM Tuesday and 2-4 and 6-9 PM Wednesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek where a vigil service will be held at 7 PM Wednesday evening. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wesley Roiter Educational Fund for his children. Wesley was born August 28, 1965 in Tawas, MI. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a Machinist at Fowlerville Machine Shop for many years. Wesley married Rosemary Rodriguez in 1992. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, canoeing, riding his Harley and he was a loving father. Surviving are: wife, Rosemary of Gaines; daughter, Adilita; son, John; father, John Daniel Roiter and wife, Pamela of Long lake, MI; mother, Patricia Eckstein of Flint; two sisters, Mary Roiter of Flint, Christine and husband, Randy Mosholder of Swartz Creek; brother, Robert Roiter and wife, Cecilia of Flint; father and mother-in-law, Raul and Clara Rodriguez; brother-in-law, Raul Rodriguez, Jr. and wife, Lisa; many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles also survive. Tuesday, April 6th, 2010PREMO, Thelma Jean – of Burton, age 85, passed away April 5, 2010 at her residence. A Funeral Service will be held 2 pm Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 E. Davison Rd., Davison, Pastor David Flowers officiating. Burial will follow in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 12-4 and 6-8 pm Wednesday. There will be a Memorial Service 7 pm Wednesday under the auspices of the Order of the Eastern Star #507. On Thursday, there will be visitation for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Thelma was born in Flint, November 21, 1924, daughter of the late James and Bessie (Haney) Dunlap. She was a Life Member of the Grand Blanc Order of Eastern Star # 507. Thelma was employed at AC-Spark Plug Division for 27 years.
Thelma is survived by her children, Jean Lewis, Charles (Diana) Premo, Michael Premo, Daniel (Kelly) Premo and Patricia (Ronald) Weidman; grandchildren, John (Gina) Tegart, Robert (Tonya) Tegart, Thomas Tegart, Katie Roundtree, Bradley Premo, Cressie Premo, James Premo, Tina (Ronald) Young, Shannon (Kristy) Premo, Scott (Wendy) Premo, Brian (Darcey) Weidman, Linda (Anthony) Bauer, Christy (David) Flowers, Michael (Ingrid) Weidman; 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers.

DIMOCK, Janice L (Scottie Mama) – 64
Tuesday, April 6th, 2010DIMOCK, Janice L. (Scottie Mama), age 64, of Linden, lost her long and courageous fight against cancer on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010. Jan was born in Chicago, IL and moved to Flint as a baby. She graduated from Flint Central High School with distinction in 1963, Michigan State (BA) in 1967and Eastern Michigan (MA) in 1971. Jan was
a dedicated and gifted Special Education teacher for the Flint Community Schools for 33 years, including 22 years, at Flint Central High School. Jan was a long time coach and chaperone for Special Olympics Chapter 13 events. She participated in her Class of 1963 reunion committee. She retired to her lake house in 2003. She then spent her time doing crossword puzzles, painting scenes in water colors, reading, gardening and enjoying time with her significant friend Tom Waldron, her family, many friends and her beloved Scottie dogs. You are invited to a Celebration of Janice’s life, led by Rev. James Hawke, on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton, Visitation with Janice’s family will begin at 2:00 PM. The memorial ceremony will start at 3:00 PM and include an opportunity for you to share your favorite memory of Jan. A luncheon for the attendees will follow in the funeral chapel community room. Preceding her in death were her parents Merrick and Julia Dimock and recently her long time companion Tom Waldron. She also leaves her longtime special friends, Nora Fisher, Mary Lou Ramage and Jan Schultz, her beloved Scottie dogs, Rocky and Lulu, many other close friends, neighbors, fellow educators and former students.
