Wednesday, March 24th, 2010ROBBINS, John B. – Of Flushing, age 73, died Monday, March 22, 2010 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Harold K. Polk, Jr. officiating.
Cremation has taken place. Those desiring may make contributions to the family to form a fund for Fostrian. Visitation 9 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home. John was born in Flint, Michigan on February 14, 1937. On October 17, 1959 he married Estella Engler in Millington. Surviving are two sons, Tim and fiancee’ Marlee of Flushing, Norm and wife Dia of Iowa;
grandchildren, Symone, Seth, Savanna, Leslie, Stela, Isaiah, Ami, Evan and Evie; brother, Bill and wife Hazel Robbins of Florida,
Al and wife Pat Robbins of Flint; sister, June and husband George Porrit of Swartz Creek; many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the staff of the East Wing at Fostrian. He was preceded in death by his, Estella and brother, Sam.

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010KAGEN, Mary H. –Of Flint, age 80, died Monday, March 22, 2010 at her residence. Funeral service will be held at 12 noon Thursday, March 25, 2010 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Matt Lee officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. Visitation 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mary was born in Malden, Missouri on September 21, 1929, the daughter of the late Ardith and Alta (Harris) Riggs and was a resident of Flint most of her life. On October 19, 1946 she married Madison Kagen. Mrs. Kagen was employed for 31 years with the Flint Board of Education, retiring in 1986. Surviving are three daughters, Sharon Kay (Bill) McLachlan, Marria Trevarthen and “chosen child” Hazel Cole; five grandchildren, Joel McCullough, Robert McCullough, Ami (Jason) Barritt, Tara (Steve) Stimson and Tammy (Greg) Faye; 11 great-grandchildren, Samantha, Joel, Nolan, Madison, Chase, Taner, Julia, Berklee, Laci, Leah and Logan; sister-in-law, Karen Riggs; special friends, girlfriends and longhair. She was preceded in death by her husband, Madison; two sons, Ronald and Mickel; brother, Wayne Riggs.

Family will receive visitors from 1-8 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Dodds Dumanois Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 901 Garland St., Flint, MI. Family will gather 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home to process to the cemetery. Kelvin W. Garner officiating at Graveside.
HINES, Mary Alice – 80
Wednesday, March 24th, 2010HINES, Mary Alice, 80 of Midland, died Monday morning, March 22, 2010 at Cascades Senior Living II. She was born on May 15, 1929 in Goshen, IN, daughter of the late Gerald and Cybil (Lantz) Christeon. The former Mary Alice Christeon married John Arthur Hines on July 24, 1948 in Midland. Due to the death of her mother, Mary was raised by her aunt Clara E. Lantz. Mary was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church and their quilting club and a Life Time member. She was a member of TOPS for many years, a member of the Rebekah Lodge #378, a member of the DAV Auxiliary Wolverine State #33 and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary American Legion Post #165. Mary was an avid card player and especially enjoyed the time she spent with her family. She is survived by her husband Art; two sons, David A. (Debbie) Hines of Cadillac, and Dennis L. (Sandra) Hines of Denver, CO; one daughter, Jean (Thomas) O’Keefe of Midland; one sister, Janis Christeon of Midland; three grandchildren, Jeff Hines, Tarah (Matt) Friedrich, Shane (Ashley) O’Keefe and four great grandchildren, Brady, Regan, Will, and Elyse. In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by one brother, Robert Christeon; one sister, Irma Parsons, and one granddaughter, Melissa Hines.
~Funeral Services~
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 25, 2010, from the First United Methodist Church. Rev. Dr. Charles Keyworth will officiate with burial in Midland City Cemetery.
~Visitation~
Mary’s family will receive friends at the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Toni & Trish House or First United Methodist Church.

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010FREELAND, Willard E., age 88 of Fostoria, MI. died Monday, March 22, 2010 at McLaren Regional Medical Center of Flint, MI. Funeral Services will be 11 A.M. Friday, March 26, 2010 at the Mayville United Methodist Church in Mayville with Pastor Dorothy Thon officiating. Interment will take place at Watertown Township Cemetery. Family will receive visitors 6 – 8 P.M. Wednesday, March 24, 2010, 1 – 8 P.M. Thursday, March 25, 2010 at the Avram Funeral Home, and at the church 10 A.M. until time of the service Friday, March 26, 2010. Memorials may be made to: The Building Fund of Mayville United Methodist Church. Willard was born August 16, 1921 to Milo and Clara (Buhl) in Mayville. He graduated from Mayville High School in 1937, and married Lila Campbell on August 28, 1948 at the Otisville Methodist Church. He retired from Fisher Body, and loved spending time with his grandchildren, gardening, watching sports, fishing, and hunting. Willard was a member of the Mayville United Methodist Church, Mayville United Methodist Men, Mayville United Methodist Church choir, and the Mayville Historical Society. He is survived by three sons: Dan (Kathy) Freeland of Mayville, David Freeland of Port Austin, Joel (Diane) Freeland of Mayville, four grandchildren: Jon (Melinda), Ben (Amanda), Margaret, Amanda, and one great grandson: Evan He was preceded in death by his wife Lila in 2006, one brother; Harmon, and one infant sister.
