Mike was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 20, 1946 the son of Frank and Phyllis (Moran) Zielinski. He lived in the Grand Rapids area until this year.
Mike was a graduate of Durand High School, Class of 1964. He attended and proudly supported the University of Michigan. Mike was the base player for the band the “Otter Lunacy” in Grand Rapids. He composed music, loved reading, sports and trains.
Mike was a cab driver and dispatcher for Port City Cab in Grand Rapids. He also had worked for other cab companies in the Grand Rapids area.
Surviving are his Sister- Nancy and husband Thomas Dorey of Durand. Brothers- Paul and wife Erin Dutton of Ovid, MI, David and wife Kathy Dutton of Davison, 9 nieces and nephews. Many great nieces and nephews, Several aunts and uncles

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father Paul Dutton Sr.

Edward was born in Flint, MI on December 16, 1930, son of the late Michael and Thelma (Reid) Suchy. He married Nina May Elmore in 1961. Edward was a member of First Baptist Church of Davison. He was an avid golfer and loved playing cards. Edward owned and operated Suchy Electric for over 35 years.

STROH, Mary Lee  – Of Flint, age 81, died Friday, March 19, 2010 at her residence. A private funeral service will be held.

Mary was born in Flint on March 6, 1929, daughter of Lee William and Grace Forncrook and had been a resident of Flint all of her life. She was married to Bernhard Stroh for 52 years. She was a member of Art Class Flint Jr. League Patron of the Arts and was also a graduate of Vassar College.

Surviving are husband, Bernhard Stroh IV; Special friends Charlotte Farnsworth and Joanie and husband Charles Lippincott.

She was preceded in death by brother Miles Forncrook.

SEITZ, Ralph C – 87

SEITZ, Ralph C. longtime Millington resident passed from our world into God’s Kingdom late Friday evening March 19, 2010 while at the Brian’s House in Davison MI Ralph was 87.

Ralph C. Seitz born March 29, 1922 in Millington Mi was the son of Fred & Ethel (Karl) Seitz and grew up here in Millington. After graduating from high school Ralph served our country during WW-II in the US-Army. When he returned he married Miss Jean Gleeson. He and Jean celebrated 61 years of marriage. Ralph worked for General Motor for 15 years retiring in 1974.In addition to working at General Motors Ralph also farmed the family farm. After retirement he and Jean moved to the West Branch area where they spent a lot of their retirement years before Jean’s passing in January of 2010. Ralph leaves to cherish his memory his daughter and son in-law Sue & Vic Fabbro, four grandchildren, Jennifer & Brian Potteiger, Tricia Sentell, James & Abby Harwood, and Melissa Fabbro, three great grandchildren, Whitney Potteiger, Jace Potteiger, and Lincoln Harwood. Ralph leaves also a sister Mrs. Edith DeWeese, and in-laws, Mike Gleeson, and Donald & Janet Gleeson. Besides his wife Ralph is also preceded in death by a daughter Marie Harwood, and a sister Marjorie Rosencrants.

Janice was born in Flint on June 29, 1946, and was a resident of Flint most of her life. She owned Charlie’s Lock and Safe.

Surviving are children, Derrald Nelson of Burton, Damon and wife Kristina Nelson of TX, Denae and husband Rick Clark of Flint; Mom, Edna Johnston of Swartz Creek; 10 grandchildren, Samantha, Christopher, Randi, Raymond, Steven, Alexandra, Aimee, Nathan, Hailey and Jenna; Great-grandchildren, Christopher, Jr. and Madeliene; Nephew, Shawn Johnston.

She was preceded in death by son Daniel, parents, Charles and Emilie and brother Chuck Johnston.

MORRISON, Mildred J., age 81 of Shaftsburg, passed away on Friday, March 19, 2010 at Ingham Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Perry Chapel. Rev. Ray Sundell will be officiating with burial to follow in Oak Plains Cemetery, Shaftsburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8pm.

Mrs. Morrison was born on April 18, 1928 in Munising, MI the daughter of Horace and Sara (Belfry) Whitmore. In 1946 she graduated from Mathers High School. She married Fred Morrison in Angola, Indiana on April 11, 1952 and together raised 2 sons. Mr. Morrison passed away on June 30, 1997.

Mrs. Morrison worked for Clark Paper Co. in Munising in her younger years. From there she went on to work for Adams Potato Chip in Lansing. She also Co-Owned Morrison’s Drive-In Ice Cream Shop in Shaftsburg with her husband from the late 60’s to early 70’s and served as Head Cook for many years at the Perry High School. She enjoyed going to Farmer’s Markets and Auctions as well as attending Shaftsburg Methodist Church.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Conrad of Shaftsburg and Brian of Haslett; sister, Evelyn Peters and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; Both parents; 5 brothers: Jim, Ed, Calvin, Curtis, and Dean.

A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Thom VerWys officiating. Burial will follow in Davison Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Wednesday. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Flint First Wesleyan Church – Benevolent Fund.

Laverne was born in Flushing, MI on October 19, 1923, son of the late Garnet and Elsie (Moyer) McKeachie. He married Glenda Wheeler on June 20, 1981. Laverne was a member of Flint First Wesleyan Church. He enjoyed NASCAR, spending time with his family and traveling. Laverne worked at Uptegraff’s and retired from Belford’s in Davison.

Laverne is survived by his wife, Glenda; children, Darlene Sprader, Virgil McKeachie; Marcia (Ed) Howell; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Connell. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Doris Mae McKeachie, Lisa A. Sitze; sister, Marian Johnson; wives, Leta Mae and Doris E.

LYDEN, Violet – Of Mt. Morris, age 102, died Friday, March 19, 2010 at her residence. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 22, 2010 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Don Frey officiating. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.

Visitation 5-8p.m. Saturday, 1-3 and 5-8p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Violet was born in Woodstock Ontario, Canada on December 2, 1907 and was a resident of the Flint area most of her life. She married Daniel Lyden on March 4, 1966.

Surviving are two daughters, Alice May,

Nancy Stafford; four sons, Bruce and wife Helen Bunn, Kenneth and wife Karen Bunn, Keith and wife Sharon Bunn, Carl David and wife Sharon Bunn;

one step-son, Ronald wife Mary Lyden; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other family members in Canada.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl M. Bunn, in 1962; husband, Daniel, in 1991; son, Gilbert Bunn; daughter, Carla Bunn and step-son, Robert Lyden.

A Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at St. Robert Catholic Church, 310 N. Cherry St., Flushing. Fr. William Wegher will officiate. Burial will follow at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-8 p.m. Sunday and 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 4-8 p.m. Monday at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 a.m. until time of the mass Tuesday at the church. Mike was born July 8, 1971 in Flint, MI, the son of Eldon and Georgann (Wolbert) Lurvey. He married Lesa M. Brady in Flushing on November 1, 1997. Mike was an Account Manager at OST in Grand Rapids. He was dearly loved by all. He was a fanatical golf enthusiast and a fantasy baseball and football enthusiast. He was an avid Michigan and Detroit Tigers fan. Mike is survived by: wife, Lesa and son, Bret, both of Kentwood; parents, Eldon and Georgann Lurvey of Flushing; brothers: Matthew and wife Sue Lurvey of Flushing, Ted and wife Michele Lurvey of Traverse City; parents-in-law, Joshua and Bonita Brady of Flint; brothers-in-law: Michael and wife Barb Brady of Rockford, T.J. Brady and Cory Brady, both of Jackson; nieces and nephews; a large extended family; and his English bulldog companion, Lulu. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and a special pet, Lacee.

LAUCKNER, Edie (Mueller) – 62

LAUCKNER, Edie (Mueller), loving wife, mother, daughter and friend, went to her Lord’s side at home on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at age 62.

Celebration of Life will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in Grand Blanc, 12534 Holly Road on Friday, March 26, 2010 at 5:30 pm. Pastor Wayne H. Wentzel officiating. Visitation will be held at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint on Wednesday, March 24 and Thursday, March 25 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Visitation 4:30pm Friday at the church until the time of the service.

Edie Mueller was born June 24, 1947 to Erwin and Ester Mueller in Wausau, Wisconsin. She attended elementary school at Trinity Lutheran Elementary in Athens, Wisconsin. Edie also attended High School at Concordia Lutheran High School in Seward, Nebraska. Edie earned her Bachelor of Arts in elementary education from Concordia College, St. Paul, Minnesota, and Masters of Arts from Oakland University. Upon graduation Edie accepted a teaching position at Redeemer Lutheran in Flint. She married James Lauckner of Flint on August 14, 1971, and together celebrated 38 years of marriage.

Edie was a proud servant of the Lord. She taught elementary school at Redeemer Lutheran Flint from 1968-1974, and at St. Paul Lutheran Flint from 1984-2003. Friends remember her for her artistic talent. She wrote two books, “Signs of Celebration” about banner making for worship, and “Story Time with your Children.” Edie was famous for her rubber stamping, and enjoyed attending University of Michigan football games with her husband and friends. She was known for her quote, “These are two fine institutions of greater academia competing in an athletic event.”

Surviving are husband, James Lauckner of Grand Blanc; Sons, Andrew Lauckner of Saginaw, Texas and Matthew Lauckner of Grand Blanc; Mother, Esther Mueller of Westfield, Wisconsin; Sister, Lois (Mueller) Wiebe of Otter Tail, Minnesota; Brother, Ronald Mueller of Westfield, Wisconsin; Countless nephews, nieces and dear friends; and “Grand-Dog”, Ginger.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity, Brian’s House Hospice, Faith Lutheran Church Memorial Gardens and St. Paul Lutheran School Library.

HOLLENBECK, Albert M – 66

HOLLENBECK, Albert M. of Maple Grove Township

Passed away on Friday morning, March 19, 2010 at the Gratiot Medical Center, Alma. Age 66 years. He was born on December 7, 1943 in Saginaw, the son of Albert and Esther ( Benkert) Hollenback. He married Connie Sparks on May 3, 1969, she survives him. Albert was a member of St Michael Catholic Church and the Elf Khurafeh Shriners. He retired from Eaton Manufacturing in 1995.  Albert enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.

Surviving besides his wife are 4 children, Scott (Kelly) Hollenback of Vassar; Jennifer Rosser of Flint; Kelli (Robert) Benson of New Lothrop; Jodi (DJ) Henson of Mayville; 9 grandchildren;  a sister, Sheila (Ken) Klimas of Seville, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James.

Funeral liturgy will be  2:00 p.m. Tuesday at St Michael Catholic Church, Maple Grove. Fr. T.J. Fleming will officiate with burial in St Michael Cemetery. Friends may call at the Whelpley-Martin Funeral home, New Lothrop on Monday from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. and at church on Tuesday after 1:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Maple Grove Township Fire Department, Masonic Pathways of Alma or Shriners Crippled and Burned Children.

Richard was born in Flint on September 22, 1941. He married Linda Johnson in 1965 in Flint. He served in the United States Air Force. Richard was employed with General Motors for 46 years, retiring in 2005.

Surviving are wife, Linda; Children, Tina Owens and Rick Hildebrand and Chad Hildebrand; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Barbara was born in Flint on May 19, 1939 daughter of the late Dean and Mildred (Toms) Fraley.
Barbara is survived by children, Leonard (Linda) Fraley, Cheryl (Steve) Mathews, George (Kaysee) Thompson, Michelle (Scott) Lamp; grandchildren, Chad Garner, Leonard D.R. Fraley, Joseph (Ashley) Fraley, Jeff Thompson, Jenna Mathews, Jodi Mathews, Jessica Thompson, Sadie Lamp, Katie Lamp, Scottie Lamp; great-granddaughter, Avah Fraley; sister, Deanna Fraley; loyal companion “Dozer”. BESSOLO, Elmer Bruno – of Davison, age 77, passed away March 19, 2010 at his residence. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00 am Monday, March 22, 2010 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 6336 Roberta St., Burton; Rev. Fr. Joseph Kim, celebrant. Military Honors, under the auspices of Davison VFW Post #4087, will follow the Mass. The family will receive visitors at the church for one hour prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Foundation.

Elmer was born in Flint, MI on April 9,

1932, son of the late Peter and Mary (Ferro) Bessolo. Elmer married Catherine Tonkovich on May 4, 1957 in Detroit, MI. He proudly served his country with the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Elmer was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 10170, VFW Post 4087 and American Legion Post 310. He retired as a Machine Repairman from AC-Spark Plug Division in 1982 with 32 years of service. Elmer enjoyed golfing, hiking, traveling and spending time in his workshop. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Catherine; daughter, Diane (Roy) Bernier; son, Mark Bessolo; granddaughters, Angelique (fiancé, Kenny) Lawrence, Christiane and Matthew Elbare; several cousins. His son, Peter, preceded him in death.
