Wednesday, March 17th, 2010WENDLING, Elizabeth A. – of Spaulding Twp., age 65, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Medilodge of Montrose. Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11AM Saturday, March 20, 2010 at St. Michaels Catholic Church, 17994 Lincoln Road New Lothrop, Fr. T.J. Fleming officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church from 10AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Saginaw Rescue Mission or the charity of one’s choice.
Elizabeth was born on November 6, 1944 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Leo and Armella (Eickholt) Schneider. She was a Registered Nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital for over 30 years. Elizabeth enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, traveling and gardening. She was a gentle, caring, selfless person who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Elizabeth is survived by: sons, Curt (Lisa) Wendling of Bridgeport, Matt (Yvonne) Wendling of Lansing, Greg (Melissa) Wendling of Spaulding Twp.; 7 grandchildren; brother, Mike (Carol) Schneider; sisters, Mary (Vern) Albert, Diane (Orvo) Watia, Jane (Russell) Egge.

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010McCOWN, Doris – Of Flint, age 82, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at her residence. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Emeritus Berniece A. Matejcek officiating. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Faith Tabernacle, 1225 South Center Road, Burton. Visitation 4-8 p.m. Thursday, 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Doris was born in Auxier, Kentucky on September 17, 1927 and was a resident of Flint since 1952. Doris was a member of Faith Tabernacle for many years. She volunteered for the Center of Gerontology for many years and went to nursing homes and read scripture. Doris was employed by Angelos Coney Island for 24 years and 9 years at B&C. Surviving are four children, Sharon McClure, Larry (Sylvia) McCown, Brenda Childers, all of Flint, Judy (Renold) Lee of Bowling Green, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Michael Hatchel of Kentucky, Larry (Holley) Childers of Hartland, Niki Lee (Brian) Robertson of Kentucky, Rusty Lee of Flint and Laura (Adam) Messenger of Flint; one very special great-grandson, Brady Thomas Messenger; sisters, Pauline Brooks (Kenneth) Wheeler of Ashland, Kentucky and Delores Kessler of Paintsville, Kentucky; special adopted daughters, Frances Howard and Tyneshia Thurman and her daughters, Precious and Princess; many nieces, nephews and very special friends, Pat and Richard Follen at Faith Tabernacle; her babies, Baby Doll and Blackie. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Jack, in 2003 and her parents.
WILSON, Shirley I. – 71
Tuesday, March 16th, 2010WILSON, Shirley I., 71, of Midland, died Monday morning, March 15, 2010 at the MidMichigan Medical Center. She was born July 23, 1938 in Pine River, Minnesota, daughter of the late Fred and Helen (Rokusek) Gerjets. She had worked for Western Union as a telographer, Martin-Marietta as a cryptologist, and retired from the K-Mart Corporation. She enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with her grandchildren. On July 1, 1960 she married James L. Wilson. He survives her along with their children, Cheryl Bapst, Daniel (Jennie) Wilson all of Missouri, Toby Wilson of Midland, and Patrick Wilson of Sanford; her sister, Alice (Sandy) Narum of California; five grandchildren, Chantell Smith, T.J. Wilson, Tawnie Wilson, Jordan Wilson, and Dannie Wilson. She was predeceased by two sisters, Alma and Betty, and by her brother, Don.
~Funeral Services~
Funeral services for Mrs. Wilson will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 18, 2010 from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Chapel, 1200 West Wheeler Street. Father Nicholas Coffaro and Pastor James Shanks will officiate, with graveside burial rites in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.

Mrs. Wilson’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m., and on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
WHEELER, Evelyn Rose – 69
Tuesday, March 16th, 2010WHEELER, Evelyn Rose “Tootsie”, 69 of Midland, died Monday, March 15, 2010 at her home. She was born on February 2, 1941 to Helen (Filcek) Kaminski and the late Stanley Kaminski of Midland. Known as “Tootsie” to her family, Evelyn attended grade school at St. Brigid and graduated from Midland High School in 1960. Prior to being married she worked at the Midland County Court House. She married the late Ralph Wheeler, of Gladwin, on May 29, 1965 at Blessed Sacrament Church. They resided in Midland and later Davison, where they raised their only son, Mark Christopher Wheeler. Evelyn worked at the Salvation Army in Flint for 16 years and retired shortly after her husband’s death in 1991. She returned to the Midland area, residing at Wixom Lake in the home she had built with her husband. It was a home of much joy and the site of family gatherings on Christmas and summer holidays year after year.
Evelyn suffered from scoliosis since early adolescence and in later life, the disease began to progress anew decreasing her lung capacity and restricting her physical mobility. She moved back to Midland and under the competent and loving care of MidMichigan Hospice and her son, she bravely battled the disease for four years until passing on March 15. A devout Catholic she now resides with her Lord and has been reunited with her devoted husband Ralph. She was 69.
Evelyn was a compassionate, loving, quiet woman. Even with the pain and restriction caused by her scoliosis, she was never one to complain, but turned to her faith and said her rosary for comfort. She enjoyed spending time on the water, traveling, and reading. In younger years she sewed and crocheted regularly as her favorite hobbies. When her scoliosis prevented extensive traveling, she made trips to close relatives, her sisters and neices’ homes, to enjoy their company. Her dearest moments were spent with her family at her dinner table.
She is survived by her son Mark Wheeler of Philadelphia and his partner Mark David Romanoski, her mother Helen Kaminiski, Michelle (sister) and Steven Weiger, Susan (sister) and Glenn Wegner, James (brother) and Darla Kaminski, Charles (brother) and Dianne Kaminski, Gladys Miller, Carl Wheeler, and Harold Wheeler, and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. Predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law Eugene and Doreen Kaminski.
~Funeral Services~
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, March 18, 2010, from Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Father Peter J. Gaspeny will officiate with burial to follow in New Calvary Cemetery.
~Visitation~
Evelyn’s family will receive friends at the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler Street, on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until time of mass. A vigil for the deceased will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening and the rosary will be prayed by the family at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010STONE, George Junior – of Davison, age 77, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at Brian’s House Hospice. A Funeral Service will be held 2 PM Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, Pastor Thom VerWys officiating. Burial will follow in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday and 12-2 & 4-8 PM Friday. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brian’s House Hospice.
George was born in Flint, MI on September 16, 1932, son of the late Samuel and Elizabeth (Trevorrow) Stone. He married Doreen Burns on October 19, 1963 and she preceded him in death on January 8, 2007. George retired from GM and also spent time as a barber. He attended Flint First Wesleyan Church and enjoyed spending time and playing cards with his friends at Holiday Shores in Durand. George loved spending time with his family.
George is survived by his son, Douglas (Vicki) Stone; grandsons, James and Douglas Jr.; sisters-in-law, Annabelle and Glenna Stone; special friends, Barbara and Gary Shock; many nieces, nephews and close friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Randolph and William Stone.

REINIG, Carl H. – 85
Tuesday, March 16th, 2010REINIG, Carl H., Freeland, Michigan, Formerly of Saginaw Twp. and Oro Valley, Arizona. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother passed away March 16, 2010 surrounded by his loving family at home. Age 85 years. Son of the late Carl K. and Katherine L. (Hamilton) Reinig, Carl was born October 31, 1924 in Saginaw, Michigan. Carl served in the U.S. Navy for 7 ½ years. He enlisted November 9, 1942 and served on the USS Albermarle during WWII. He was discharged in early 1945 and in 1947 reenlisted in the Naval Reserve to serve on the USS PC785 stationed in Saginaw as a training vessel. He was discharged and later recalled for the Korean War and was stationed at the Port Huron, Michigan Naval Reserve Training Center. Carl married Dorothy A. Ayotte, his loving wife of 62 years on November 8, 1947. She survives him. Carl was a maintenance foreman at Dow Chemical Company retiring after 28 ½ years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Auburn and past member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. He enjoyed the nature and wild life of Arizona and was a well known handyman for family and friends. Surviving besides his wife Dorothy are two sons, five daughters and their spouses, Joseph P. and Laurie Reinig, Thomas C. Reinig, Mary K. and Mark Schwarck, Judy A. and Bryan Jowers, Susan M. and Robert Townsend, Marsha J. and Robert Caylor, Theresa J. and John Sheets; 18 grandchildren;11 great-grandchildren; his brother Frederick L. and Jan Reinig; many nieces and nephews. Carl was preceded in death by his son, James F. Reinig. A special thanks to the Veterans Administration of Saginaw and Tucson, Arizona and Sister Elaine Raymond for the love and care they had given. Funeral Liturgy will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 19, 2010 at St. Andrew Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Robert DeLand will officiate. Military Services will be conducted by American Legion Post #439 after Mass. Honoring Mr. Reinig’s wishes cremation will follow. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty) where the family will be present on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at St. Andrew Catholic Church from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. FOOTE, Irwin P. – 79
Tuesday, March 16th, 2010FOOTE, Irwin P. of Horsehead Lake/formerly of Haslett passed away Monday March 15, 2010 at Mecosta Medical Center in Big Rapids. Irwin was born 79 years ago in Lansing to Daniel and Letha (Williams) Foote and graduated in 1949 from Haslett High School. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, spending two years in England during the Korean War. Irwin is survived by the Love of his life, Joanne (Carrington) and would have celebrated 59 years of wedded bliss on April 21st, 2010. He formed his own Company, Foote Drywall, Inc. and was in the drywall and painting business for well over 45 years. Irwin was a lifelong Detroit Tigers fan, loved watching football, playing cards with family and friends and playing golf. He was a member of the American Legion post 269 and Fraternal Eagles, Big Rapids, MI. He is survived by his wife Joanne (Carrington), sons, Mark (Jenny) and Craig (Debbie) and daughter Sherry. Irwin was blessed with his six grandchildren, Charity (Zenon) Hernandez, Lori (Ryan) Van Becelaere, Jason (Brenda) Lott, Jenny (Steve) Brimley, Jamie (Ryan) Holbrook and Adam Lott, and his five great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Daniel (Barb). He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Karen and his brother Robert Foote. Irwin fulfilled his life’s dream when he and Joanne retired to their Lakeside home on Horsehead Lake in 1999. Irwin will be greatly missed for his sense of humor, honesty, integrity and the love he had for his family and friends. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses who cared for him at Mecosta Medical Center, the Cross Roads Radiation Center in Reed City and a special thank you to Dr. Brummeler and his staff for the many years of care. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 19 at 12 noon at Watkins Brothers Funeral Home, Laingsburg Chapel, with the Rev. Kurt Kirchoff officiating. Interment will follow in the Foote Cemetery, Williamston. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Emphysema Society in honor of Irwin P. Foote.
