BAKER, Arthur V. – 71

BAKER, Arthur V. age 71 of Laingsburg passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Watkins Brothers Funeral Home, Laingsburg Chapel with Pastor John Walworth officiating. Family will meet with friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Laingsburg Cemetery.
Arthur was born on March 1, 1940 in Lansing, the son of George and Margaret (Bergin) Baker. He graduated from Bath High School, class of 1958. Following High School he served in the U.S. Army. On February 22, 1969 he married Gale Griffith in Lansing. Arthur retired from G.M in 2008 after 48 years working as a U.A.W. Negotiator. He was a member of local 652 serving as Chairman of the Bargaining Committee for 31 years.
Arthur is survived by his wife Gale, three children, George (Jodi) Baker of E. Lansing, Marian (Tom) Reblin of FL and Elizabeth (Joshua) Wallberg of Davison, grandchildren, Bonnie Baker, and Aubrey and Gus Wallberg, his mother Margaret of Laingsburg, many nieces and nephews and brother and sister in-laws. ADAIR, Kay Ann – 67

ADAIR, Kay Ann E. – of Davison, age 67, passed away March 13, 2011 at Genesys Hospice Care Center. Per Kay’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 11 am Saturday, March 19, 2011 at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 8192 Davison Rd., Davison; Rev. Louise Brokaw officiating. The family will welcome visitors 5-8 pm Friday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew Presbyterian Church.
Kay was the eldest daughter of Herschel W. and Kathryn F. Earp, born October 16, 1943 in Flint, Michigan. She attended Flint schools and graduated from Swartz Creek High 1961. Kay attended Mott Community College through 1963, and then worked at Michigan Bell Telephone business office 1962-1963. She was employed with Equitable Life Insurance in the Mott Foundation Building in 1964. Kay Earp married Gary F. Adair at Farnumwood Presbyterian Church on May 7, 1966. She joined St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Davison, in December of 1972. Kay was ordained a Ruling Elder at St. Andrew’s in January of 1974. Only Daughter, Sarah Rebecca Adair, was born April 19, 1976. In March of 1985, Kay was appointed to fill a vacant seat on the Davison City Council. She was re-elected several times. In 1993, Kay was elected the first female mayor of Davison.

She served as Mayor from 1993-2003. Kay served on a variety of boards including the Davison/Richfield Authority, the Davison Senior Center, and the Davison Development Committee. She was commissioned to serve as a Lay Pastor at Mundy Presbyterian Church in April of 2001. Kay served as Pastor there until December 31, 2010. She served as the Moderator of Lake Huron Presbytery in 2007. Her daughter Sarah married Scott Sanderson on May 24, 2008.

Kay is survived by husband Gary; daughter, Sarah and son-in-law, Scott Sanderson; sister, Lorraine Earp; sister and brother-in-law Marjory and Cecil Cross; niece and husband, Karri Ann and Matt Beebe; great-nephew and great-niece Devin and Alexandria Pittman. Kay was preceded in death by her father, Herschel Earp, in 1985; her brother, Douglas Earp, in 2005, and her mother, Kathryn, in 2006.

ROBINSON, Ernest J. – 85

ROBINSON, Ernest J. of Otisville, age 85, died Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Brian’s House, Davison. Funeral Services will be held 12:00 Noon Wednesday March 16, 2011 at Hudson Funeral Service with Rev. Bruce Malicoat officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday 2 to 9 PM. Contributions may be made to The D.A.V. or West Forest United Methodist Church. Cremation will follow at Sunset Hills Crematory.

He married JoAnn Humphreys in Otter Lake in 1950. Ernest was a Member of West Forest United Methodist Church, a WWII Veteran, former Prisoner of War, and recipient of the Purple Heart, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He retired from Ternstead as a skill tradesman.

Surviving are his wife JoAnn; children: Douglas D. (Cindy) Robinson, Denise D. (Pete) Serr, Deborah D. Lorenz; 5 grandchildren: Kelli, Krystal, Tony, Jarrad, Jason; Great-grandson: Harry; several nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law: Hester and Donald Humphreys. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister and his mother in-law.
