WALDRON, Dorothy M. – Age 94, of Birch Run, died Monday, March 1, 2010 at Tender Care Health Center of Frankenmuth. Funeral services will be held 5PM Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run, Rev. Ted McCulloch officiating. Cremation to follow. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 1PM until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Dorothy was born to the late Edward and Janet (Kennedy) Sewell on December 13, 1916 in Detroit, Michigan. She has resided in Birch Run for 17 years. Dorothy married Leonard Waldron in 1939 and he preceded her in death in 1983. She graduated from Saginaw General Nursing School in 1936. Dorothy was employed as a Registered Nurse with St. Mary’s Medical Center and Saginaw General Hospital for over 40 years. She attended Birch Run United Methodist Church. Dorothy belonged to the VFW Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading, watching football and playing cards. Dorothy always claimed that she was “The Boss”.

Richard was born in Flint on December 3, 1941, and had been a resident of Flint all of his life.

LIDDLE, Virginia Katherine – Of Grand Blanc, age 89, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 1, 2010 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich. Funeral service will be held 11am Friday, March 5, 2010 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Bruce J. Badder officiating. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to Genesee Road Church of God.

 Visitation 4-8pm Wednesday and 10am-8pm Thursday at the funeral home.

 Virginia was born in Cherokee, WV on April 21, 1920 and was a resident of the Flint area since 1953. Virginia married Robert Tyrus Liddle on March 1, 1940 in West Virginia. She was a member of Genesee Road Church of God for 29 years. She resided at Abbey Park Assisted Living for 7 ½ years. She loved her family and wanted them around as much as possible.

 Surviving are 5 Children, Linda and husband Jerry Parks of Houghton Lake, Robert and wife Judy of Holly, JoAnn and husband Larry Harris of Flint, John and wife Gaye of Yukon, Oklahoma, Patti and husband Mike Crane of Flint; 11 Grandchildren; 14 Great-grandchildren; Sister, Lola Mae Thore of West Virginia; Brother, Alfred Honaker of Florida; Sister-in-law, Martha Honaker of Virginia; Many nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in 1981; parents, John and Nannie Honaker; grandson, Brian, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Corbie was born in Sergent, Kentucky on September 17, 1944, the son of the late Corbie and Viola Earls, and was a resident of the Flint area most of his life. Corbie graduated from Ainsworth High School. He retired from General Motors V8 Engine Plant in 2000 after 38 ½ years of service and was a member of UAW Local #659.

 Surviving are 4 children, Adam Earls, Anita (Earls) Fanning, Alan Earls and Martha Earls; 4 grandchildren, Allissa Beller, Christopher Beller, Danny Earls and Samantha Earls; Sister, Betty Earls;

Former wife and mother of his children, Jean Myatt.

KAMIDOI, Jeffrey Scott – of Davison, age 56, passed away February 27, 2010. A Funeral Service will be held 1 pm Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Gene Smith officiating. Jeff was born in Flint on August 22, 1953, son of George and Donna Mae (Doty) Kamidoi. Jeff married Diane Kay Running on March 31, 1972. He worked at Flint Auto Collision for 30 years. Jeff was a hard worker and always extended his help to anyone that needed it.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Diane; son, Scott and wife, Juliet Kamidoi; beloved granddaughters, Cassidy and Callie; brother, Kim; many other family members and several good friends. Jeff will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Joyce was born February 24, 1923 in Campbell, MO to the late John and Violet (Adams) James and came to Flint in the late 1940’s. She married Wendel Hunt in 1950. She farmed in Clio for many years having enjoyed harvesting the many kinds of fruits and vegetables, raising farm animals and taking in many kids. Joyce enjoyed their summer home in South Branch, moving to it in 1998. She enjoyed fishing, bingo, casino, cards and many other activities. She enjoyed picnics with family and always enjoyed people around her.

She leaves: her daughter, Marsha (Richard) Courser; grandchildren, Rich (Wendy) Courser, Thomas Scott (Christy) Choate; great-grandchildren, Hope, Zach, Ryan, Sean and Evan. HALEY, William “Bo”- of Birch Run, age 77, died Sunday, February 28, 2010 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Birch Run. Rev. Fr. John Sarge officiating. Interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with military honors under the direction of the VFW Post #1859 of Carrolton. Friends may call at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run on Tuesday from 5-8 PM and Wednesday from 2-9 PM. A rosary will be prayed at 7pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home followed by a time of sharing. Mr. Haley will lie in state at the church on Thursday from 10AM until the time of service. Bill was born in Toronto, Ontario on June 19, 1932 to the late Charles and Winifred (Kehoe) Haley. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Bill was a long time employee with Kroger, retiring after over 30 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he was involved in the Ushers Club and the VFW Post #1859 of Carrolton. He was also very active in the Knights of Columbus Council #7233 where he served as a Grand Knight, Navigator and Color Core Commander. Bill was also a Trustee on the Birch Building Corporation.

He is survived by: siblings, Mary L. Spear, Winifred K. (David) Walkowiak, James A. (Susan) Haley, Joseph T. (Vana) Haley; sister-in-law, Nanette (Bell) Haley; brother-in-law, Jerald R. She was born January 7, 1942, daughter of Howard and Wilma Ingersoll in Lapeer. Janet married Densel Fuller Jr. on December 4, 1965 in Otisville. She was a dedicated Christian wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend; also a member of St. Paul Lutheran church. CASTLE, Nancy Harwood, age 72 of Durand, passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 28, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, March 5, 2010 at the Durand First United Methodist Church, 10016 E. Newburg Rd. Durand, MI 48429. Pastor Wayne Thomas will be officiating with burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Vernon. The family will receive friends at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Durand Chapel on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8pm.

Mrs. Castle was born on September 16, 1937 in Battlecreek, the daughter of George Preston and Eloise May (Harwood) Boyd. She graduated from Durand High School in 1955. She married Harold Gordon Castle in Angola, IN on August 13, 1956 and together raised 4 children. He later passed on December 26, 1993.

Mrs. Castle worked for 30 years in banking where she had been the Assistant V.P. Loan Officer at Charter One Bank. She was a member of the Durand United Methodist Church where she served as a Lay Leader, Treasurer for S.G.U.M., Treasurer for the Building Fund, Chairman of the worship committee and representative for the Annual Conference.

Mrs. Castle is survived by 4 children: John Preston (Pok Sun) Castle of Korea, James Michael (Kristi Ann) Castle of Morrice, Mary Kathryn (Wayne Ballew) McGinnis of Durand, Harold Lawrence (Julie Lee) Castle of Dexter; 9 grandchildren: Matthew, Nicholas, Joshua, Paige, Kristi, Sarah, Stuart, William, Angela; great grandchildren: Celeste, Draven, Olivia, Isabella; special friend, Ron Stork; brother, Robert Thomas (Edna Rose) Boyd of Mississippi; sister, Judith Ann Davis of Flint; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Father, Mother, Mother-in-law, Father-in-law, Step Father and brother, William.

BROHN, Sandra Jean – Of Flint, age 74, died Sunday, February 28, 2010 at Hurley Medical Center.

 Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Steve Wood officiating. Cremation has taken place.  Sandra was born in East Petersburg, Pennsylvania on May 17, 1935 and moved to Michigan in 1953. She received the F.W.B.A. Secretary Appreciation Award in 1977, she was 11th Frame March of Dimes Woman of the Year in 1980 and received Judge Donald R. Freeman Award in 1989.

 She was Past President of the 600 Club and had 18 years of service with the F.W.B.A.  She was an Honoree of Flint Women’s City Tournament in March 1995. She loved writing letters, sending cards, gardening and was an avid NASCAR and hockey fan. Mrs. Brohn was employed at Southland Lanes, retiring in 1999, after 33 years.

 Surviving are children, James Brohn, John Brohn and Jodi Wood; six grandchildren.

BARANY, Elizabeth Ann

BARANY, Elizabeth Ann – September 24, 1919 – February 20, 2010. Elizabeth was born in Flint, daughter of John Dominic and Josephine Ann Barany, who were immigrants from Hungary and Slovakia. As a child, she worked hard, caring for flowers and vegetables in the Barany Greenhouse business on the corner of Maryland and Cook. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and excelled in her studies. After high school, she attended Michigan State College, graduating with a B.A. in English and following that, University of Michigan, where she received her Master of Arts in Education. Elizabeth was a passionate teacher and administrator in the Flint Public Schools in her career of nearly 40 years. After retiring, she continued to instruct student teachers for an additional 7 years. One of her happiest teaching years was spent as an exchange English teacher at Dreux Air Base near Paris, France. Her summers were punctuated with travels to countries in Europe, especially important were visits to Hungary and Slovakia where she became acquainted with her relatives. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret and brother-in-law, Richard Niss. She is survived by her brother, William S. Barany and wife Johanna Louise; her nieces and nephews, Michael Niss, Marcia Danner, Kathryn Whittaker, John Barany, William P. Barany, Bruce Barany and Helen Hansen. Up to her very last moments of life, Elizabeth was an inspiration to all who knew her, sharing wisdom and good humor. She has many neighbors, friends and relatives who will miss her. What a privilege to have known her! A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 5, 2010 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison, Rev. Fr.
