MAGNUS, Helen M. – of Birch Run, age 87, died Thursday, February 25, 2010 at the Frankenmuth Lutheran Home. Funeral services will be held 11AM Monday, March 1, 2010 at Bridgeport Faith Lutheran Church, 4241 Williamson Rd., Bridgeport, Rev. William W. Hessler officiating. Burial to follow in Birch Run Cemetery. Friends may call at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run on Sunday from 2-8PM and at the church on Monday from 10AM until the time of service. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Faith Lutheran Church or the charity of one’s choice.

Helen Billmeier was born July 15, 1922 to the late Herman and Erma (Kolbe) Billmeier. She married Frank Magnus on February 14, 1942. He preceded her in death on February 7, 1988. She was a member of Bridgeport Faith Lutheran Church and the Seasoned Citizens. Helen enjoyed being a seamstress, growing beautiful roses and traveling.

Surviving are: children, Jerome (Rose) Magnus, Edward (Marion) Magnus, Shirley (Abe) Judd, Thomas (Carol) Magnus, Janette (William) Hart, Joyce (Philip) Power, Julie Magnus; grandchildren, Teresa, Brian, Jean, Dawn, Scott, Tracy, Lucas, Caleb, Derek, Christopher, Rick and Mike; 18 great-grandchildren; numerous brother and sister-in-laws. KUCHER, Daphne Mary age 77 died Thursday February 25, 2010 at Brian’s House Hospice, Davison. Honoring her wishes cremation has taken place. No visitation or services will be held. Daphne was born in Norwitch, England April 6, 1932 the daugher of the late; Samuel and Dorothy Fairchild. She has resided in Michigan since 1955 coming from England. Surviving are sons: Paul Kucher of Tampa Florida, and Sam Hale of Flint, granddaugher Samatha of Florida. She is preceded in death by son; Michael Kucher and brother David Fairchild.

HICKERSON, Hallie E. “Gene” – Of Flint, age 82, died Thursday, February 25, 2010 at his residence. Funeral service will be held 11am Monday, March 1, 2010 at the Swartz Funeral, Home 1225 West Hill Road, Minister Mark Aites officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Shults Lewis Child & Family Services, P.O. Box 471, Valparaiso, Indiana 46384. Visitation 1-4pm and 6-8pm Sunday at the funeral home.

 Hallie was born in Decaturville, TN on February 15, 1928, the son of Polk and Ila Hickerson, and moved to Portageville, Missouri in 1932 before coming to Flint in 1949. He married Annette Salerno on April 5, 1985. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserves during World War II. He was a member of Swartz Creek Church of Christ and UAW Local 598. He was known for his wonderful sense of humor and love of Bluegrass and Old Country music. Mr. Hickerson was employed, as an electrician at General Motors Chevy Truck Assembly for 42 years, retiring in 1992.

 Surviving are wife, Annette: 2 Children, Larry Hickerson of Vassar and Pamela and husband Tim Brown of Alpena; 3 Step-children, Nannette and husband Rick Haggard of Florida, Billy and wife Karen Peraino of Flint, Wendy and husband Michael Beinlich of Nebraska; 3 Grandchildren, Christine Spencer,Jennifer and Heather Spencer;

2 great-grandsons, Gunner and Gauge; 5 Step-grandchildren, Justin, Carley Rose and Ian Beinlich, Ricky and Brittany Haggard; Several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marcelene, brother, Marvin Hickerson and sister, Faye Hornburg and brother Jimmie. Special thanks to McLaren Hospice and dear friend, Bill Higdon and numerous others who supported the family.

HAM, Helen (Spooner) – Of Flint, age 92, died Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Christian Apostolic Church, 6350 Fenton Road, Flint, Reverend Don Spooner, Sr. officiating, obituary read by Reverend David L. Spooner, of Clio.

Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Christian Apostolic Church. Visitation 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Mrs. Ham will be at the church from 12 noon Saturday until the time of the service. Helen was born in Benton, Arkansas on November 14, 1917.  Helen and her husband, Joe Ham traveled as Evangelists throughout the community. Helen graduated from Central High School, Mott Community College and attended the University of Michigan at the age of 90. She was a member of the Christian Apostolic Church and was an ordained minister with the First Church of Jesus Christ. Helen retired from the Flint School System as a Para Professional. Helen enjoyed sewing, computers and continuing her education. Surviving are brother, Reverend David and wife Bonnie Spooner of Clio; sister, Lois Lobbs of Clio; brother, Reverend Don and wife Marie Spooner of Henderson, Nevada; several nieces, nephews and special friends. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Ham.
