SHIRKEY, Nellie Louise – Of Flint, age 98, died Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Brian’s House in Davison. Funeral service will be held 3pm Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Brother Sean Kennedy officiating. Entombment at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens in Fort Myers, Florida. Those desiring may make contributions to Brian’s House of Davison. Visitation 12-3pm Saturday at the funeral home.

 Nellie was born in Indiana on June 29, 1911 and was the daughter of the late David and Addie (Pickett) Williams. She was an active honorary member for over 50 years for the Order of the Eastern Stars. Mrs. Shirkey was employed by GM as a nurse, retiring in 1973, after 30 years.

 Surviving are three granddaughters, Debbie  Klinck and husband Joe Hale, Linda and husband Mike Crimm and Julie Caery; great-grandchildren, Randy (Taylin) Klinck, Tony (Renae) Klinck, Becky Crimm, Ben (Hannah) Crimm, Rachel (Jon) McLaughlin and Matt Crimm; four great-grandchildren, Lukas Crimm, Logan Klinck, Chloe Klinck and Baylee McLaughlin; many nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by husbands, Bob Shirkey, Alexander “Kip” Frazer and Marion Tatom; daughter, Anita (Ray) Caery; eight brothers and sisters.

MARTIN, Irene C. (Oskey) – Of Flint, age 90, died Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at St. Lukes in Maumee, Ohio. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 1, 2010 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Harold K. Polk, Jr. officiating.

 Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery.

 Irene was born on November 24, 1919, one of nine children of Arthur and Martha Oskey. She married Francis Martin on March 1, 1941. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church.

 Surviving are four children, Gary and wife Cheryl of Seattle, Carolyn and husband John Williams of Davison, Fred and wife Beth of Seattle, Keith and wife Carolyn of Temperance, Michigan; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister; one brother; many nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis, in 2003;  daughter, Patricia Seymour, in 1973; granddaughter, Ashley Martin, in 1999; two sisters and three brothers.

GARDNER, Thomas Wayne “Tommy” – of Davison, age 67, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at U of M – Ann Arbor. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, Elder LeGendre, Elder Perry and Elder Hobbins will officiate. Burial, with Military Honors will follow in Meadowview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 11 AM – 8 PM Friday and 12 – 1 PM Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Tommy was born in Goodrich, MI on August 22, 1942, son of the late Arthur and Viola (Holderbaum) Gardner. He married Sandra Berzley on August 25, 1962. Tommy was a member of First Baptist of Goodrich and was an avid shooter. He worked at GM, retiring after 39 years of service.

Tommy is survived by his wife, Sandra; children, Robert (Krysta), Kimberly (David) Saint, Adam (Wendy), Wendy (Terry) Schlak, Wayne (Carina); 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Linda McConnaughey, Carol (Glen) Mash; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jim; brother-in-law, David; granddaughter, Tabitha Schlak; cousin, Lola Holderbaum.

DeWITT, Cynthia ‘Cindy’ – of Davison, age 58, passed away February 24, 2010 at Genesys Hospice Care Center, Goodrich. A Funeral Service will be held 10 am Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 E. Davison Rd., Davison; Rev. Robert D. Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Meadowview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 10 am-2 pm and 6-8 pm Friday. A Memorial Service will be held 7 pm Friday under the auspices of the Order of the Eastern Star, #282. This will be followed by a L.O.N.S.A. service at 7:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Cindy was born in Flint on January 8, 1952, daughter of Charles and Anna (Slovak) Kadlec. Cindy married Gerald DeWitt Jr. on October 3, 1975 in Davison. She was a member of Normal Hal Order of the Eastern Star # 282 and L.O.N.S.A. Cindy was a Lady Shrine Clown.

Cindy is survived by her husband Gerald, ‘Jerry’; mother, Anna Kadlec; brother, Ed Kadlec; sister, Karen Kadlec; step-children, Jerry DeWitt and Julie (Randy) Walesky; step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; numerous family members. Her father preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Friday, February 26, 2010 at Lamb of God Fellowship Church in Montrose, Rev. Ben Hobson officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Friends may call at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose Thursday from 2-9 PM. She will lie in state at the church on Friday from 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM. Clarice was born August 9, 1931 in Flint to the late Ralph and Opal (West) Hilgendorf. She was a resident of Flushing the past 30 years. Mrs. Steffen was employed at Quest Diagnostics for over 20 years retiring in 1997. She enjoyed bowling and fishing.

Surviving are: 3 children, Dawn (Gary) Kendall of Flushing, Kris (Debbie) Steffen of Montrose, Leanne (Joe) Farver of Flushing; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother Ronald Hill of FL; nieces and nephews. SICKLES, Beatrice V. “Dene” of Corunna age 92 Died Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at the Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility, Corunna Funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the Streeter Funeral Home, 507 W. Dene was born in Tuscola County, Michigan on August 11, 1917 the daughter of Edward and Belle (Webb) Murphy. She married Charles L. Sickles in Byron, MI on March 9, 1938. He preceded her in death on April 30, 2007. She lived in the Corunna area since 1965, coming from Gaines.

Dene was a former member of the Cooperative Extension of Shiawassee County and a member of the Women’s Society of Christian Service. Dene enjoyed crafting but quilt making was her specialty. Dene worked for the Corunna Public Schools as a substitute cook and was also a homemaker. Kenneth was born August 12, 1932 in Flint, Michigan to the late George and Blanche (Bowen) Lamrock. He had resided in Clio since 1955. Kenneth married Sharon Beck on February 14, 1955. He was retired from Chevrolet Mfg. (Chevy in the hole) and was a member of UAW Local 659. He formerly attended First Baptist Church of Clio. Kenneth enjoyed playing pool, Harley Davidson motorcycles, auto racing and was an avid outdoorsman.

Surviving are: wife: Sharon; 6 children: Kenneth C. (Jauny) Lamrock Jr. of TX., Terry Lamrock of FL., Tim (Lisa) Lamrock of Burton, Keith Lamrock and Carol of Owosso, Scott Lamrock and Rose of Clio and Rodney Lamrock of Clio. 31 grandchildren. 9 great grandchildren. 5 sisters: Idell Spodney, Becky (Rick) Goodman, June (Leo) Vliet, Barb Stebbins and Kate Nelson.

Richard was born in Flint on May 4, 1957, son of Joseph and Sophia (Respecki) Lechota. He was employed by Delphi for 31 years. Richard was an avid racecar enthusiast. He enjoyed going to the racetrack and watching his sons’ race.

Richard is survived by his children, Casey (Terry) Cash, Sara (Cliff) Urmanic, Nicholas Lechota (girlfriend, Tiffany), Jordan Lechota (girlfriend, Chauna); grandchildren, Morgan and Courtney Cash, Dylan, Alexis and Chase; Richard’s special buddy, Willie; mother, Sophia (Michael) Ward; brother, Robert (Debbie) Lechota; sisters, Joyce (Steve) Loncarevic, Susan (Ron) Murray and Judy (Jeff) Berry; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Lechota and brother, Ronald Lechota.
