Friday, March 11th, 2011SHILLING, Jill – of Flint, age 61, died Wednesday, March 9, 2011 after a short stay at Avalon Hospice. Funeral services will take place at 11 AM Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home – 239 E. Hickory St. in Montrose. Interment at Montrose Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2-8 PM and Saturday from 10AM until time of service.
Jill was born January 25, 1950 in Flint, Michigan. She graduated from Hill – McCloy High School in Montrose in 1968. Reading was Jill’s favorite hobby. She also enjoyed bingo, board games, playing cards and family gatherings. Jill had a love for all children. She enjoyed spending time with her great nieces and nephews and telling stories of them. Holding a special place in Jill’s heart was her great nephew, Mikel and little Olivia who was like a granddaughter to her. She also had a love for people and made friends wherever she went. She was known to be generous to all who knew her.
Surviving are: Daughter, Nanette Shilling of Flint., Sisters: Zelda Smith of Flushing, Sue (Lee) Myers of North Branch, Brenda (Don) Batchelor of Waterford, Gloria (Ken) Walli of Grand Blanc and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons, Douglas Allen Shilling and Raymond Lawrence Shilling; Brother: John Calvin Harrison and parents: Zeldon (Bud) and Freda Harrison. Friday, March 11th, 2011ROTHLEY, Joseph M. – Of Flint Township, age 47, died Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 12 Noon Monday, March 14, 2011 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road, Burton, Father Tim MacDonald officiating. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to Catholic charities or the American Cancer Society. Visitation 1-3 and 5-8pm Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West hill Road. A Scripture Service will be held 7pm Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Joseph was born in Flint, Michigan on June 27, 1963, the son of Jim and Connie (Owen) Rothley. He attended grade school at Holy Redeemer and graduated from Flint Southwestern High School. He worked at Chrysler Corporation. He was an avid mountain biker, and loved playing hockey and spending time with his granddaughters. Joseph was the proud father of Kelli Rothley and Thomas (deceased). Surviving are daughter, Kelli Rothley; Granddaughters, Jade and Jayla; Parents, Jim and Connie Rothley; Brothers, Jim Jr., John and wife Sheila and Jeffrey; Sisters, Teri and husband Alex Karayanis, Patti and husband Ron Kucinsky, Sue Rothley and Mark Papke, Kathy and husband Curt Russell; Many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Tracy Rothley.

Friday, March 11th, 2011HAKEL, EDWARD E. of Otisville, age 83, was called home to the Lord, Thursday March 10, 2011 at Brian’s House, Davison. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Monday March 14, 2011 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Otisville, with Rev. Fr. Francis Farachi officiating. Visitation will be Saturday Noon to 7 PM, Sunday 10:30 AM to 8 PM, Prayer Service will be held Sunday at 7 PM at Hudson Funeral Service. Burial will be in Smith Hill Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the family.
Edward enjoyed farming, snowmobiling, woodworking, and his family. He was a member of Disabled American Vets. and Fraternal Order of Police. He worked as a law enforcement officer for Dayton Hudson Co. Surviving are his wife Rose; children: Deborah Hakel Wirwille, Sherry Hakel-Okamoto (husband Kent) and Eric Hakel; grandchildren: Lauren and James Wirwille; his buddy Abigail; 2 brothers and 2 sisters: Lawrence, Virginia, Evelyn and Gene; several nieces and nephews
