HILL, REVEREND, Albert Stroud – 83

Sunday, March 6th, 2011

HILL, Reverend Albert Stroud- – Has completed his circle of life here on earth and has started his new life with Jesus.

Jesus called him home on March 4, 2011. There is not enough room to tell of all of the good things that he accomplished while he was here.
Albert was born in Black Oak, Arkansas on May 22, 1927 and raised in Gideon, Missouri. He served in the United States Army in France and Germany and was a Guard in the Nuremberg Prison during the war crime trials. He moved to Michigan in 1948, where he met his wife, June Ann Bellamy.
Love at first sight is real. They were married April 5, 1952 and never lost that love.
Albert worked at General Motors, but was never content. He drove School Bus for Oxford, Flint and Carman-Ainsworth. C/A drivers will remember him for his daily weather reports and a lot of kids will remember the day he pulled to the side of Corunna Road and raised his hands toward heaven and prayed for their behavior.
He was respected. He knew he had a calling on his life and one day while working at Ternstedts he said he looked up through the old smoky shop toward heaven and told the Lord, “If you can use me I will serve you for the rest of my life,” and he did. The first time he heard the Lord’s name taken in vain he cried and said “I must be saved,” and he was. Several Ministers and followers of the Lord Jesus Christ came out of his ministry.
Albert felt the calling to preach and his first sermon was in 1957 at Indian Lake General Baptist Church in Lake Orion, MI and later pastored there. He was licensed in 1958 and ordained on March 21, 1959. He founded and built Mt. Zion General Baptist Church in Oxford, MI in 1963. In his callings he was interim pastor at Jericho General Baptist in Missouri for 5 months. Pastored full time at Fellowship General Baptist in Warren, MI, New Hope General Baptist in Pontiac, MI, West Flint General Baptist in Flint, MI, then back to Mt. Zion in 1985, where he pastored until he was no longer able. He was the oldest living Preacher in the Fellowship Association of General Baptists. He preached and pastored for 50+ years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess David and Martha Jane (Boyd); two brothers, Jess and Bill; four sisters, Fanny (Story), Josie(Elam), Julie (Willoughby) and Martha (McCallister); daughter-in-law, Rebecca (Phillips); also nieces and nephews.
Albert leaves behind his wife of 58 years. He called her Ann (Bellamy); son, Ricky Albert, Sr. (Terry); daughters, Kimberly Ann (Greg) Maguffee and Lisa Jane Gifford (ex-John); fiance’, Paul Pratt; grandchildren, Ricky Albert, Jr., Joseph Calvin, Jeremy Walter, Joshua Aaron Hill, Leah Renee and Caleb Gregory Maguffee, Jonathan Dennis(Ciara) Gifford and Rachel Ann-Marie (Gifford) Yeager (Raymond); two step-grandsons, Brain and Gordon (Janelle) McCain; great-grandchildren, Ethan Claude Ricky, Kailey Lena, Justin Walter, Jean Marie, Joshua Aaron Hill, Jr., Landon Stroud Gifford, Austin Dean Merrill, Wesley Wayne and Bailey Raymond Yeager; four step-great-grandchildren, Taylor, Brandon, Einn and Aryanna McCain and many friends.
Our loss is Heaven’s gain and he will be greatly missed.
Funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2011 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Martin Goode of Missouri officiating, with a military service conducted by the Marine Corps. League Flint Detachment #155 Honor Guard.
Visitation 1–8 p.m. Sunday and 11 a.m. Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Private burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery.
