YANKEE, Marjorie – of Davison, age 86, passed peacefully away, surrounded by her family, on March 1, 2011 at Brian’s House Hospice of Davison. Honoring her wishes, cremation has already taken place. A Celebration of Marjorie’s Life will be held 12 NOON Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettell officiating. Marjorie’s family will welcome visitors from 10 am until the time of the service on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to Brian’s House Hospice or Valley Area Agency on Aging.

Marjorie was born in Flint on July 6, 1924, daughter of the late Clarence and Grace (Hill) Sweers. Marjorie married Lyle E. Yankee on June 20, 1943. Lyle preceded her in death on December 1, 1980. Marjorie was a Nurse’s Aide at St. Joseph Hospital for 19 years.
Marjorie is survived by her children, Linda (Jerry) Siedenburg, Kimberlee (John) Pannell, Michael (Judy) Yankee, Patrick Yankee and Timothy (Debbie) Yankee; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Ron (Joyce) Sweers. She was preceded in death by three children, Pamela K. Kinzel, Randall L. Yankee and David E. Yankee.

WEIDENHAMMER, Kimberly – of Flint, age 27, passed away February 26, 2011 at her residence. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday, March 5, 2011 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. The family will receive visitors for one hour prior to the Mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family for a Trust Fund for Maycen. Checks payable to Samatha Reyes.

Kimberly was born in Flint, MI on June 25, 1983. She was a very loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Kimberly will be deeply missed. Kimberly is survived by her son, Maycen; parents, Un Suk ‘Connie’ (William) Cook, Ellis ‘Ray’ (Susan) Weidenhammer; sister, Samatha (Ray) Reyes; nephews, Gabe and Julian Reyes; grandfather, Ellis Weidenhammer of AuGres, MI; grandmother, Dorothy Cook; stepbrother and stepsisters. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

STEWART, Veryl A. – 88

STEWART, Veryl A. age 88 of Lennon, passed away on Monday, February 28, 2011 at Memorial Healthcare Center in Owosso. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Durand Chapel with Rev. John Walworth officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8pm.
Veryl was born on April 29, 1922 in Venice Township, the son of Adrain and Edna (Saxton) Stewart. Growing up he attended Venice Center Schools and then went on to graduate from Owosso High School in 1940. He joined the United States Navy in 1942 during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1945. On July 5th of that same year, Veryl married Estella Royal.
Mr. Stewart worked for General Motors at AC Spark Plug for 30 years as a Skilled Trade Carpenter, retiring in 1972. He was a member of the Vernon Masonic Lodge, the Vernon United Methodist Church, and he served on the Venice Township’s Landfill Committee for several years.
Veryl is survived by his wife, Estella of 65 years; daughter, Terry (Donald) McLeod of Lennon; 2 grandsons: Jay (Carrie) McLeod of Georgia, Kyle (Heather) McLeod of Grand Rapids; sister: Gaithel Stewart Wotherspoon of Swartz Creek.

SATHER, Alice L. – of Clio, age 83, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at her residence. Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 520 Butler, Clio. Rev. Wayne H. Wentzel officiating. Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Thursday from 6-9 PM and Friday from 12-4 and 6-9 PM. She will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM.
Alice was born October 18, 1927 in Flint to the late Amer and Kathleen (Black) Hartley. She resided in Clio since 1952. She married Myron Sather June 11, 1952 in Flint. He preceded her in death in 2000. Mrs. Sather retired from Clio School in 1995 with 20 years seniority. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. Alice enjoyed watching birds, gardening, being outdoors, spending time with her family and the girls friday night out.
Surviving are: children, Rodney (Laurie) Sather of Clio, Dennis Sather of Davison, Marty (Diane) Sather of Clio, Raymond (Joan) Sather of Clarkston, William (Nancy) Sather of Clio, Kathleen (Larry) Harris of Grand Blanc; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Walter (Kaye) Hartley of AL; sister, Joyce Schwerin of Pinconning; many nieces and nephews.
