Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011SMITH-WESTRUM, Deborah Elizabeth, age 47, of Ann Arbor, formerly of Fenton, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2011 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor. Funeral Services will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Deacon Ron Kenney officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday until time of service at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Deborah Smith-Westrum Memorial Fund for her children’s education. Deborah was born December 10, 1963 in Flint the daughter of Gary and Beverly (Whitworth) Smith. She graduated from Fenton High School in 1982 and later earned Bachelor Degrees from Alma College and Eastern Michigan University. Deborah was employed as a caregiver at Columbiere Elder Care Center, where she provided devoted, tender care for retired clergy. She was also a skilled artist, who created many fine works of art. More than anything, Deborah was a homemaker and loving mother who cherished her children. Surviving are her two children, Maxwell Cord Westrum, Piper Lauren Elizabeth Westrum and their father, Ron Westrum; parents, Gary and Bev Smith of Fenton; sister, Chris Ann Smith of Fenton; brother, Gary Paul Smith and wife Deana of St. Clair Shores; two nieces, Amanda Tougas, Danica Smith; two nephews, Gavin Smith, Dalton Smith; grandmother, Mary Niedzwiecki of East Tawas. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Nora Ebel; great-grandparents, Victor and Justina Smith. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Ron Westrum for his unconditional love and kindness. Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011IJAMES, Calvin I. – Of Flint, age 86, died Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held 10A.M. Thursday, February 24, 2011 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Pastor Jack Dowden officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. Those desiring may make contributions to Emmanuel Baptist Church. Visitation 6-8p.m. Tuesday and 1-8p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Calvin was born in Earle, Arkansas on February 2, 1925 the son of John Lawrence and Lois (Hawks) Ijames. Calvin was a World War II veteran, serving in England. On September 11, 1948, he married Betty Retherford. He was employed with Fisher Body in Grand Blanc, retiring in 1985 after 31 years of service. Calvin loved chopping wood and woodworking. He made several woodworking projects for his church, family and friends. Calvin also enjoyed his vegetable garden and loved to share his freshly grown veggies with anyone. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church all his life and volunteered at the church and with the Food Bank for several years. Surviving are wife, Betty; children, Dennis and Kathy Ijames of Burton, MI, Sally and Phil Magsig of Okemos, MI, Pam and Mike Russell of Flint, MI; grandchildren, Andy and Allison Ijames, Kelly and Mike Roeper, Ben Magsig, Bailey Magsig and Colton Russell; great-grandchildren, Julian Ijames, Autumn Roeper and Calvin Roeper; sister, Samantha Eubanks; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son Douglas, infant granddaughter, Jessica Russell in 1991 and 10 brothers and sisters.

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011FRINK, Georgie Charlene — Age 59, of Swartz Creek, went to be with the Lord, February 20, 2011 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services will be 11 AM Friday, February 25 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Interment in Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be 1-4 and 6-9 PM Thursday. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society. Georgie was born January 8, 1952 in Flint the daughter of George and Elizabeth Serges. She had resided in Swartz Creek and Grand Blanc her entire life. She was a 1970 graduate of Swartz Creek High School. Georgie was completely dedicated to her family. Surviving: two sons, Greg (and wife Katie) of Flushing, Clay (and Heather) of Lake Orion; four grandchildren, Caly, Abraham, Samuel, and Skyler; brother Gregory George Serges (and wife Gina) of Linden; nephews, Greg Jr., Nick, and Sam Serges; and her dog Topper. BUSH, Robert Lee – 83
Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011BUSH, Robert Lee of Davison and Flint age 83 died Sunday Feb. 20, 2011 at Crittenton Hospital, Rochester Hills, Michigan. Honoring his wishes cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be held at Flint Memorial Park on Saturday March 5, 2011. Those desiring may make contributions in Robert’s memory to the American Cancer Society. Robert was born in Pontiac, Michigan, on March 5, 1927, the son of the late Louis & Nellie (Schilling) Cushman and has resided in the Davison-Flint area most of his life. He was joined in marriage to Elizabeth Atkins and she preceded him in death May 13, 1998. Answering the call of his country Robert served in the US Navy during WW II. He leaves to cherish his memory: daughters, Nancy Wengert and Betty Weaver, seven grandchildren, sister Pat Ostrander and a host of other relatives.
